Typical of the african american race.. Bring the news station down to the local business that you bought the car from and bad mouth them for your own stupidity. So typical!! The dealer did nothing wrong in this matter he told the man the car was sold "as is" which means NO WARRANTY to anybody with a grain of sense, but as usual the world defends ignorant people that lack common sense so it makes it ok to be stupid in matters like this. Wow know wonder the US is going down the johnny flusher.. Everyone is exempt from be ignorant.

Your entire statement was ignorant. What does the african american race have to do with this. I take it that you are Caucasian, however just because you are ignorant I would call all caucasians ignorant....What a racist idiot.

Did the buyer have the car inspected by his mechanic prior to purchase? Read the "AS-IS" forms that federal law requires to be posted in used cars, it reads "ask the dealer if you can have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic either on or off of the lot". I sell cars for a living and always tell the customer that they need to have the car inspected before buying it, and the very first form that I have them sign is the warranty disclaimer. I learned a long time ago it's always the people who buy the cheap (under $2k) cars that will bitch the most since they expect a cheap car to last forever, now when I get trade ins like that I just send them to the auction, and lately they bring more at the auction than they would on the lot anyway.

I am not surprise of the the rude comments. Yes I am white. but these negative comments sounds like a bunch of red necks. Honey if you are that down on your fellow man then nothing anyone can say. I say give him his money back. This would have said so much for his business. He choose to do this. So I am sure his business will pay for it. For me it is not worth it.

Ok racist, how much more garbage can you spew out of your mouth? You're nothing but a 2 bit lint licker. Take your step-ladder and go down the hole yourself, if you can't get back up we will have a shovel ready to scoop out what is remaining. Cowardly racist.

Smart, educated people! The more you let the scammers get away with, the bolder they get! Just because the scam is legal, doesn't make it right!

I thought there was too, guess it doesn't apply to greedy, shameless used car dealers!
I wonder if this was his first time buying a car? I know my first time was a nightmare! A place tried to get me to finance more than I could afford, one tried to sell me a car with a faulty transmission. After my son totalled his first used car, he didn't have the money to buy another, and I didn't either. He bought a car for 600 or 800 bucks from a guy near us. Guy told us what was wrong with it, and it would probably last him a yr. And it did! LOL He'd still have it if he could find an oil pump for it! He lucked out since I just got another car and kind of sold him mine (he pays for it when he can, since he is in college)
There really should be some kind of law against this! And against the crazy interest rates those used car dealers give!
What about that 3 day cooling off law?(You can change your mind in 3 days and get your money back) Does that only apply to new cars also?
I feel so sorry for that guy, yes, he should have read the contract, but some ppl just don't do that. And all the insults against him, with 24's and can't read are uncalled for. I'm sure he feels miserable as it is. And 1200 bucks poorer from a greedy vulture that preys on the uninformed.
The 3 days to cancel a contract doesn't apply to car sales in VA even if you have a warranty. I bought a 2006 Toyota Corrolla from a dealer in Virginia Beach, with a warranty. The day I took delivery I noticed several problems I had not seen before. The windshield washer pump didn't work, when the window was rolled down, you could hear brake noise, the horn didn't work and one tire was defective. But I had already signed the papers and the dealer dragged their feet about making repairs. I complained to a VA agency that oversees Auto Dealers and was told that as long as the dealer "attempts" to honor the warranty I have no recourse. And if they don't honor the warranty, my recourse is still seriously limited. I didn't lose $1200, I lost $13K. The dealer never did repair the car. I left the car with them to be repaired and when I picked it up, they had doctored the issues to make it look as though they had repaired the car, including moving the defective tire to a different wheel in hopes I would not notice.

This is good lesson for future used car buyers to read the contract, bill of sale and anything related to the purchase.

I dont know what the guy is complaining about you bought an as-is car what do you expect. I feel bad for the dealer getting press for this as if he did something wrong. Its like playin russian roulette when buying a used car. Stuff breaks, tis' life.
Actually, if you knew Mr. Ted Tapscott you would understand the long time reputation he has for less than upstanding business practices. It is by no means a coincidence that Mr. Tapscott's dealership is in the location that it is. He is in business to prey on those who are somewhat down on their luck and have little understanding of what their rights are. I have been to both his car dealership and kart shop just to see if they are as bad as many people have said and guess what, they are. I have known this man since his days of racing at South Side Speedway and he has not changed a bit.

How dare you! This was a young man obviously trying to provide for his children!
how dare i tell the truth....
i wouold be willing to say that he was headed to the rim store to purchase some donks, and then proceed to the nenarest audio dealer for some thumps.
Its obvious to me that young man doesnt haaave any intentions to care for his children, it was a good idea to put them into the picture for publicity.
Most people get a vehicle and head to the insurance agency..... another reason why we pay more for insurance for people like him that are more worried about image than necessity.
The truth is there, dont be afraid to see it.
