No major problems there, some trees down loss of power. Nothing to worry about at this time. GOD bless you and your family, and thank you for your service.

I just talked to my brother, who lives in Hopewell, and he said there are trees down on his street that have knocked down two poles. Sure hope everyone comes through this okay and the power is back on soon. I know there are numerous power line crews headed to the Virginia area, so hopefully you guys won't be without very long. A few years ago we invested in a standby generator that comes on automatically when the power is off, and it's some of the best money we have ever spent. But good luck in this storm...my brother said this is about as bad as he's seen it in years.

Patty, we're considering getting one of those. We moved here last fall so we missed Isabel but Irene left us with no power for a week. My hubby is in Afghanistan too. Fortunately, a neighbor let us run an extension cord to their generator so we were able to save the contents of the fridge. Could you tell me about how much your standby generator cost? I know I can get companies out to give an estimate but I really wanted to have a general idea before dealing with a hard sell salesperson when my hubby isn't even home.
