Why isn't Rick Martrich being brought up on corruption charges?! If he was tipping off that scumbag at "Almost Heaven" about raids, how is that not corruption? The #### was colluding with the worst filth on the earth in order to help him avoid charges of animal cruelty.

Martrich, Eckhart, and everyone involved in that place should be locked away in the same cages Eckhart kept those dogs.

Once again, Bill White is the one having the balls to ask the hard questions!! Everyone in the rescue community knows that many of the dog wardens use their power to intimidate and keep their nay-sayers in line by threatening to shut them down. I am not shocked that the humane society was giving their dogs to Almost Heaven. There have been rumors for awhile about that and surprise, surprise....they are true. So today is a very good day....Rick Martrich is gone. But everyone's greatest fear is, who will take his place. The only thing that could be better is if Bruce Fritch would retire from the Humane Society and stop killing dogs like he claims to have the rite to due.

Drove by the place this weekend and it looks like its still operating.
How come?

Yes, WHY is AH still operating, and still advertising PUPPIES - which means they are either breeding or bringing in new "stock", both illegal under his appeal conditions.

But he keeps getting away with it. So someone (besides Eckhart's lawyer) is still getting paid off as far as I'm concerned

I think there need to be protests in front of AH until that place has been demolished.

Here we go - provide by your own Morning Call! Eckhart is found violating the conditions for being allowed to operate his "kennel" yet he is NEVER SHUT DOWN!!! Never told to cease and desist until AFTER the trial ... just keeps doing what he's been doing for the last 2 decades!

I agree.
We can all celebrate at the new 'Tap & Table' gastro-pub just up the hill from Almost He ll (formerly Rumors).
Let's hope Skip's treated better in jail than he treated his doggies.

Finely now they appear to have hired a dog warden who is doing their job...or should I say her job.

Thank you so much for being one of the few reporters to really stay on this story! I live in Harrisburg but have to turn to your paper for any news on puppy mills

Hey Bill, nice article!

Now can you find out WHY they left 25 dogs behind at Almost Heaven to continue suffering a this guy's hands? With all the charges being filed against him, why would anyone in their right mind leave any dogs in his care?
