Buyers beware!! You can find some deals on vehicles that a have 200k miles (or more). You will have NO knowledge or history of the vehicle (sorry, no CARFAX), they don't disclose any mechanical problems, and you can't "test drive",(unless you have time to schedule an appointment thru the week)- The BEST part is ALL the added "fees" that are not disclosed at the sale or on thier website. You MUST pay $299 "Buyers Premium" on EVERY vehicle, and $150 For liscense registration. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE PROPERTY TAX SC residents must pay. Don't even ask to do you own "paperwork" at the DMV,They wont let you. So you are stuck paying an EXTRA $449 BEFORE you can get your "bargain"(ie:clunker ) off the lot. Is this LEGAL? Sure, it IS "posted" in the hall about the "Byers FEE" but NOTHING about the $150 "DOC Fee" until you get ready to pay. I think they are a scam. I gues they think if you've got $500 to even GET in the bidding, then you MUST be made of money. Anyone else had any problems?

yOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!! iT IS A SCAM , this IS NOT A REAL AUCTION. iT IS A USED CAR DEALER THAT BUYS THESE JUNKERS FROM DEALER ONLY AUCTIIONS AND PASSES THEM OFF TO UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE. hE MUST BE STOPPED!

we were on vacation from chicago and stopped in to this so called auctions. i spent time talking with this slick owner and got the impression that this guy is out to take people for a ride and with my years of working in the automotive industry, he offer very little for customer and a hold lot for him self. cars were leaking fluids and some of them did not even start or had to get assistance going in and out the sales doors. we felt like a shower and went back to the hotel to get one. we car fax two of the vin number and it be surprising what we found out. it need a good investigation in to this out fit....

I THOUGHT THE DEAL WAS A LITTLE IFFY ALSO HOWEVER I BOUGHT A CAR THERE AND THINGS WORKED OUT WELL. YOU GOTTA REALIZE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. WE BOUGHT THE CAR FOR 2500.00. PUT 650.00 INTO THE CAR
DROVE BACK TO NY AFTER THE SALE (WITH NO PROBLEM) AND HAVE ALREADY BEEN OFFERED ALMOST TWICE WHAT WE PAID FOR IT. YOU JUST HAVE TO REALIZE WHAT YOUR GETTING INTO WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING THAT WAY.

i agree with the last post. i buy cars and sell them on the side and i was able to get some really decent deals from them through the auction. i was even able to work with the auction manager on one vehicle that would not run.

Regarding the Carfax Report, Thats why I always buy Vehicle Reports from CheapCarfaxReport.com , The only charge a couple bucks for a report. Carfax is just a ripoff.

I guess my point was more about disclosure- They don't tell you "up front" about the "added Fees", and being a Public auction, they should tell us dummies that don't buy and sell for a profit about these fees, we are just looking for a good deal on a budget- It causes confusion when you get to the table to close the deal, and they hit you up for money that you hadnt planned on. In SC, we have 45 days to register the vehicle, so we think (while bidding) that we have 45 days to register the car, pay the state tax, etc. Im glad your experience with them was more "favorable" than mine.... I know I won't go bck,(or recommend to anyone), because of this. Tell me upfront, not at the closing table what it is going to cost to get the car off the lot, or print some buyers "rules".

The guy shown on WSOC TV tonight, Mabandrani, is a crook based on the news reports.

Make sure you double check the odometer when you buy from them.

Not only do they rip you off and sell you JUNK, the "WARRANTY" that you can pay extra to have is not worth the paper it is written on. There is a kickback given to this dude to sell you the warranty and then the warranty company does not pay. They have actually lost credidation with the BBB because they are a fraudulant company. I am obtaining an attorney and I am going to SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN! I will be contacting the TV stations, picketing in front every Saturday and making these peoples lives a living hell for not caring at all about the people who come in there. I understand you get what you pay for, buyer beware...but the hidden fees and the outright deception on the warranty is WRONG. My sixteen year old is now without a car or the money she worked to save to buy one. I hope he feels good about it!

You are close to right on your comment. They go to auctions at places like car max and buy problem cars then pass them on to you knowing they have a problems. If you complain they try to make you feel better by giving you your money back as a credit towards a different car or telling you that they will fix your car and then letting it sit out back until you get mad and come get your car. They are ripping people off everyday. I still work there but only so that I can warn people of what they are doing. Everyone should file complaints with the DMV! And if your selling them a car by all means do not take a check it will bounce. No local banks will accept checks from them because they have bounced so many. Just ask any bank in Rock Hill. They will tell you!

my gfrn bought a car there with the warranty and before the auction by the announcer that the warranty covers the car as soon as you buy it. The car was drove in for viewing and it sounded a ran well. The bidding started and she was high bidder. After the paper work was completed we were given the keys, started the car to take it home and discovered that the car was stuck in high gear (automatic). Since we had the warranty we took it to a reputable trans shop and were told that they would need to tear the trans down to see what was wrong. We HAD THE WARRANTY so we told them to do what they needed to do to get the car back on the road. A week later the trans shop called and told us that the warranty representative looked at it and said that they would not cover it because it had a pre-existing condition. We are talking several thousands here. They did tell us that they would refund our warranty fee. It has been several months now and have not seen a cent. Buyers beware.

Soo what kind of "hidden" fees does Peoples Auction have?(ie; what is the "buyers premium, Bidders Deposit,DOC fee, title/transfer), or any other add-on fees? Or are they just as "shady" as their competetion?...

Purchased a car from them at market value. Transmission is bad and needs replacemet. They are just passing on junk from other dealers that can't sell them, go elsewhere...

I work at a local mechanic shop in rock hill. we hired a tech that came from the auction. you would not believe the things they do to the cars. example take out the check engine bulbs, put heavy weight oil in the cars to cover up engine knock, etc. most automotive parts houses have cutoff there charge accounts for bouncing checks, and he also hires employees that have no proof of ever repairing a vehicle. This guy has opened businesses like this in other states, and SC. Once he starts to be investigated or aquires a lot of complaints, he packs up and moves on. The state, and federal government need to step in and yank his business license permanently. They should also make him reimburse everyone he has sold a car to. I personally have inspected several of these cars after they have been sold, and can honestly say that they should have been in the scrap yard. One lady paid 2500 for an 93 lexus he told her it need a tune-up. I looked at it. the valves where broke dumping fuel in the cylinders, every gasket on the engine leaked, the head gasket was also leaking dumping antifreeze in the oil, and this guy tells her it needs a tune-up what a crook. Since then I refuse to even look at these cars because its a lose-lose situation for everyone except for this man.

I ourchased a car from there awhile back drove the car 60 miles and the engine light came on, took it to a repair shop and was told i would have to spend 3000 to get it fixed plus the car will not pass NC inspections. I think this is wrong they should have to enclose whats wrong with car especially to people from NC because we have inspection rules even though SC don't come on now
