Former Rock Hill hospital chief: PMC would have expanded a decade ago
COLUMBIA Had Piedmont Medical Center been told by state health officials that outside applicants would be allowed to compete for the right to build a new Fort Mill hospital, it immediately would have added 64 beds to its Rock Hill hospital in 2004, Piedmonts former CEO testified Friday.

If PMC expands, what does that help? I took my mom to CMC Pineville last week and in order to find a bed to admit her, we had to go to the CMC Hospital in Concord. No other beds were available. I know we could have gotten into Piedmont but we choose to go elsewhere because of what I feel is better care. Piedmont can add 800 beds and people will still go to Charlotte for their care. We need any other hospital than Piedmont in this area.
