Dear Mr. Know-it-all (aka "not again"). I would like to first start off by saying that you said wouldn't go down to my level and start name calling... I know get what you ment by that- you're going BELOW my level!:)!!(sorry for the misundurstanding, buddy! or should I say fellow A**wipe) Now onto the issues, Mr.Naive. Maybe Walters was involved in senior tax relief because he put HIS SINGNATURE on the town ordinance that stated the tax relief. He in fact, look it up, gets 100% credit for this. MAYBE I know all of this about Walters because I'm an INFORMED voter, unlike you ( I've gotta admit, your pretty determined to revile that I have some type of "inside" relationship with Walters)Now onto your blabbering on about bankruptcy... he went bankrupt on a personal level. This has nothing to do with any of his businesses or careers. He never had a buisness go banckrupt and in fact, helped his buisnesses flourish, like he's done with our town, nimrod. As for taxes,I once again have to remind, you that they DID NOT go up while he was in office, and he once again is promising that, unlike Savitski. Now let's do a little predicting: Which canidate is most likely to raise taxes- The one who is promising, and has never raised taxes or the one who is completely silent about the whole tax thing??? Take a wild guess! As for the comittees, lets take a look:

The East Haddam Village Revitalization Commission: A commitee that is working to renew many of the village parts of our town.

THe Agricultural Commission: A major part in the purchase of over 400 acres of open land, something the Walter strongly supported. FACT.

and as for the Green Commitee, I'm sorry to tell you that your tree-hugger friend didn't start it! Walters did- and they've worked to sell "energy credits" that support clean energy-FACT. Also, if you took more than 30 seconds on the town website, you would find that the transer station IS NOW revenue neutral- FACT not a projection. Laslty, to address your mind reading abilities that seem to say I'm partisan- well they must've failed you. Although it's absolutly none of your business, I do consider each and every candidate on the ticket. However, I associate myself with people who support less government control in my finances (Mark Walter) and who value human life. These people just so happen to mainly republicans. And to end,
you seemed mad that I said your candidate was Savitski... hey brainiac- they're two candidates for first selectman- one you hate the other you love- I decided to take I wild guess at who your candidate was! But I'd like to apoligize for saying you support savitki...I must've got it wrong!

jon, the town just went to a town meeting to approve overages. Savitsky is an attorney. Walters isn't. Did you happen to see how much the budget was over in legal fees due to his ignorance and credentials. Savitsky could save the town money as he has that background with legal issues. Why all of a sudden did the transfer station want to unionize and now the police. Makes you wonder. I'll bet with Savitsky's background the town wouldn't be spending lots of money on these issues. He's got the credentials. Elect him

Walter filed bankrupcty to get rid of business loans he couldn't pay obviously. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all do that? What about Shwenfier who is running for board of finance. What ever happened with Williams Chevrolet in Haddam? He worked for them. Didn't that go out of business too??? Or did it go bankrupt as well? Are these two key people you want running the town? I hope not!!!!!

Now all of a sudden we're suppossed to be electing attorney's for everything?? I could care less what career that they have or had... I look at who is going to get the job done the best. But if you want to play that card, than I would much rather have somebody who has experience in buisness, than a sly lawyer. The clear candidate to vote for is Mark Walter. REPUBLICANS, INDEPENDENTS, and DEMOCRATS FOR RE-ELECTING WALTER/LYMAN 09!!!

Wow, this thread is just chock full of interesting commentary and witty banter. It's a real Algonquin Round Table. Why don't you all keep your uninteresting, adversarial, name-calling, rhetorical windbursts to yourself? East Haddam is a pretty decent small town that I chose to move to years ago because of many good qualities, among them retention of an agrarian and rural character with lots of open space. It's a nice place to live and has problems just like any place. You make us all seem like a bunch of intellectually devoid pork 'n beaners. Critiques of candidates and relative policies is perfectly reasonable fodder, calling each other crooks and such is just lazy, unproductive and results in nothing but verbal street fights. Flame on.

Hello "not again"! How about the election results!!! Walter won by nearly a thousand votes!! Looks like I wan't the only one in town to see that Walter clearly was the right candidate!!! And you called me ignorant! Who's the ignorant one now??! Savitski got only 880 out of 2725!! The people of East Haddam overwhelming said that they support Mr. Walter. You mentioned previously that *quote* "HEY JONBOY, you my ignorant friend, are THICK AS A BRICK sadly so i'm afraid, So i guess there is no point in further argument with the likes of you. BUT i do hope you'll check in on NOV 4TH so i can feed you some crow my boy !!

Here I am on november fourth. I have checked back and it appears as if you, as typical poor loser, have not checked back because your candidate was destroyed. I'm ready for you to "feed me some crow" I'll still be waiting for your response if you ever get over Savitski's defeat!!
P.S. How about Denise Dill, Bob Bennet, Ed Swzenfier, Paul Maxwell, Susan Taylor, Amy Apostaleris, Crary Brownell, along with Michael Gross, Beth Lunt, and Deb Dennete. It looks like East Haddam has finally waken up and choosen the right people!!! And what did you win??? Haslam, Pear, and the unchallenged Klinck!

hey jonboy, welcome back i've been expecting you. sounds like you're awfully pleased with your partys victory at the pols. have you ever heard the saying "be careful what you wish for,you just might get it" well you got it,now we'll just have to wait two years to see how it plays out.now on with business, what did the election results tell you? ya' know what it tells me? it tells me that there was a backlash against democrats, which doesn't really bother me all that much considering i'm an independant (even though you've tried to paint me with a democratic brush) newsflash genius there were only 2 candidates for first selectman and just because i chose the other now i have to be a democrat what a simple mind you must have thinking everything is plain.i voted for whom i considered the best quallified candidate had there been a third candidate whom i considered to also be quallified i would have weighed the facts and made an informed choice as i did this time.we need more people to pay attention in this town! hell i don't even think we had half of the registered voters take part in the election thats SAD ! Well if nothing else, the next two years will be eventful i'm sure.Mark "you can run BUT you can't hide" next time you'll have your record to show, good luck with another zero growth budget do ya' really think they'll forgoe raises again,NOT even if you threaten layoffs like you did before! "AND WE'LL HAVE FUN,FUN,FUN 'TIL THE VOTERS TAKE YOUR CROWN VIC AWAY" AHH OOOH, A WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH

I guess we'll just have to watch the next two years. And we will have good luck with a zerogrowth budget. The republicans in this town are fiscally conservative... Unlike Savistki or Govert.
