In political parlance, it’s the “coattails” theory — the worse Corbett does, the worse every other Republican candidate does.
Generally, Republicans worry that party voters who are turned off by Corbett will simply stay home
Vote Tom Wolf for Governor !
Yeah baby!

Rand Paul on ISIS:'Intervention Created This Chaos'
In a long speech on the Senate floor, the Kentucky Republican laid out his foreign policy vision, and took transparent swipes at members of his own party.
He also took the opportunity to assert his broader views on foreign policy, which critics say have endured flip-flopping over the last few months. Paul criticized both the Bush and Obama administrations for interventionist tendencies, blaming the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria on past meddling in the Middle East. Intervention, he said, "toppled secular dictators," leading to the radical jihadist groups of today in places like Libya.
"When does a track record of being consistently wrong stop you from being a so-called expert when the next crisis comes up?" Paul questioned. "We should remember that they were wrong. There were no WMDs, that Hussein, Qadhafi, and Assad were not a threat to us. Doesn't make them good, but they were not a threat to us."
In a possible dig at John McCain, he alluded to a falsehood he's brought up before: that the Arizona senator may have been cozy with future ISIS members.

Affordable Care Act lies
September 21, 2014
Obamacare is a failure that should be repealed and replaced

The man-made catastrophe known as the "Affordable Care Act" and "Obamacare" still lurks. And nobody should interpret the absence of daily negative headlines as a sign the law's myriad problems have been rectified, or that there is substance to Harry Reid's claim of "untrue" horror stories following the law's implementation.

So, how much damage has been inflicted now that gross ineptitude in foreign policy has replaced gross ineptitude in health care policy?

Let me count the ways … and lies.
* Young people will love it...
* Everybody will finally be covered … for less than $1 trillion...
* Health care reform will have little impact on employment...
* You can keep your insurance if you like...
* The medical device tax as money maker...
* A progressive conscience clause...
* The typical family will save $2,500 a year...
* Nobody will deny you coverage due to a pre-existing condition...

Climate Science Is Not Settled
Sept. 19, 2014
We are very far from the knowledge needed to make good climate policy, writes leading scientist Steven E. Koonin

The idea that "Climate science is settled" runs through today's popular and policy discussions. Unfortunately, that claim is misguided. It has not only distorted our public and policy debates on issues related to energy, greenhouse-gas emissions and the environment.

But it also has inhibited the scientific and policy discussions that we need to have about our climate future.
...
Any serious discussion of the changing climate must begin by acknowledging not only the scientific certainties but also the uncertainties, especially in projecting the future.
Recognizing those limits, rather than ignoring them, will lead to a more sober and ultimately more productive discussion of climate change and climate policies. To do otherwise is a great disservice to climate science itself.

ISIS war rollout resembles launch of Obamacare site
September 21, 2014

Someone in the Obama White House clearly has a good book to write one day: "How Not to Do Rollouts."

With one hapless episode after another, the rollout of the President's plan to destroy ISIS is beginning to rival the less-than-splendid debut of the Obamacare website.
...
Ever since the President went on prime-time television to announce his new strategy to "degrade and destroy" ISIS, he and his team have slipped on one banana peel after another.

First came the series of muddled messages. Was this to be called a war or something else like a counterterrorism campaign? Who knew after so many contradictions from the administration? Is the threat from ISIS something we are trying to prevent from happening one day or is it imminent? Again, contradictions. Crucially: Still we put boots on the ground or will we leave all the ground fighting to surrogates? No one can be sure yet.

Rep. Chaffetz:“It’s True”– Terrorists Were Captured at US Border This Month & “They’re Still Being Detained”
September 19, 2014

On Wednesday, Congressman Jason Chaffetz broke the the story that four known terrorists were apprehended at the US border in Texas on September 10th – the day before the 13th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks.

Chaffetz questioned Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson earlier Wednesday on whether he was “aware of any apprehensions of suspected or known terrorists” on the border.Johnson dodged the question.

Rep. Chaffetz told Megyn Kelly on Wednesday night there were four terrorists arrested crossing the US border in Texas on September 10.

"There were actually four individuals trying to cross through the Texas border, who were apprehended at two different stations, that do have ties to known terrorist organizations in the Middle East."

Chief Meteorologist At Weatherbell Analytics: Organizers Of People’s Climate March Were ‘Prostituting The Weather And Climate’
September 22, 2014
...
He commented that the protestors at the climate march were more concerned with their political agenda than climate science.

“If you really paid attention to what happened, the mask is off, and I appreciate that those people that organized this came out and let us know who they were. If you look at the list of people, Communist Party USA, Socialists. Fine, if you want to have that debate, that debate should be done at the polling place and should be done in the halls of Congress or try to change laws. It shouldn’t be prostituting the weather and climate for your own needs.”

Bastardi stated there are technical disagreements that can be addressed among scientists, but really doesn’t rise to any level of concern for the general public.

Oklahoma Woman Beheaded By Islam-Evangelizing Co-Worker
09/26/2014

An Oklahoma man beheaded a woman after a workplace dispute on Thursday, the Associated Press reports.

Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said Friday that the suspect Alton Alexander Nolen, 30, entered the Vaughan Foods processing plant in Moore, Oklahoma on Thursday and beheaded 54 year-old Colleen Hufford.

Nolen had recently been trying to convert his co-workers at the company to Islam, Lewis said Friday, according to interviews with the company’s workers.

Once Here, 70 Percent of Illegal Families Don’t Report Back to Immigration Agents
September 25, 2014

Seven of every 10 families released by the Obama administration this year after entering the country illegally didn’t show up for follow-up appointments with authorities, the Associated Press reported today.

AP said it obtained an audio recording of a confidential meeting held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at which one ICE official said thousands of families caught crossing the border this year–70 percent of the total–subsequently failed to meet as instructed with federal immigration agents.

Upcoming Anniversary: October 1st Will Mark 18 Years of No Global Warming
September 24, 2014

According to the datasets used last year, October 1st will mark the 18th year of “no significant warming trend in surface average temperature," says Patrick Michaels, director of the Cato Institute’s Center for the Study of Science.

And even if the current 18-year trend were to end, it would still take nearly 25 years for average global temperature figures to reflect the change, said Michaels, who has a Ph.D. in ecological climatology and spent three decades as a research professor of environmental sciences at the University of Virginia.

Obama: U.S. underestimated rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria
Sep 28
The U.S. had expected the Iraqi army to do more against extremists, president says in acknowledgment of intelligence shortcomings

President Obama acknowledged that the U.S.[Obama] underestimated the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS, also called ISIL) and overestimated the ability of the Iraqi military to fend off the militant group in an interview that will air Sunday on 60 Minutes.

The president was asked by 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft about comments from Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who has said the U.S.[Obama] not only underestimated ISIS, it also overestimated the ability and will of the Iraqi military to fight the extremist group.

"That's true," Mr. Obama said. "That's absolutely true."
