Good!@ There should be more of a focus on VIOLENT criminals! It's silly when they put some girl away for 18 years suspended after 9 for vehicular homicide, but someone who breaks into a home and robs someone at gunpoint gets out in 2! I don't care what you drunk driving fanatics think, I say give the accidental killer 2 and the violent criminal 9!

People who make a conscious decision to commit acts of violence against others with full criminal intent deserve the worst punishment because they WANT to do harm to people, and thus they pose the highest risk to society. I hate the whole "getting into your car drunk IS murcer" garbage, because you're out of your mind if you can justify equating that to loading a gun and using it.

The intent and desire to do harm shoudl weigh the heaviest. So keep the violent criminals locked up and flush out the non-violents from the cells if you need to make room for them.(drugs, DUI, fraud, tax evasion, etc). Not to downplay those crimes, but I think the #1 priority for the penal system is to get the dangerous and violent criminals off the streets.

Don't be fooled by this bill. It doubles the minimum sentence for second offenses, and triples them for third. Most of the "minimum" sentences for the felonies are 1 year. So lets get tough and make them serve two, or three - and don't forget they get out after serving 85% of that sentence. The state is no safer with this worthless bill than we are without it.

All this does is authorize more spending. Read it. Not to mention it was attached to the identity theft bill.

They couldn't even make it its own bill- its an amendment to spend 10 million dollars this year and probably double that next year.

Call your reps to vote this down or let it die. the last thing needed is more spending.

The Republicans like the headlines it grabs while the Democrats appreciate wasting money.

One again the Democrats and their "kiss the butts of criminals" stance refuse to give this state and it's citizens a real tough on crime piece of legislation.

I love how they say the original 3 strikes proposal was "valueless". I would like one of the Democrats, just one, to explain how an AUTOMATIC life sentence for a 3rd violent crime is "valueless".

Face it people, unless you vote these spineless Democrats out of office, the maggots of this world will still be free to roam our neighborhoods.

Make a statement in November....and vote against every Democrat that is in office with the exception of the true moderates that voted for the original 3 strikes bill and want to keep us all safe.

WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO GET A 3 STIKES LAW WITH TEETH???

Perhaps when these lowlife scum bags are releast early or after short sentences they should have to stay with the families of our gutless democrate representative to transition back to society. Therefore if they become violant again they will become violant with the jerks taht turned them loose early.
