I remember when Belle was the shit. No visible drugs exposed around children. You felt safe letting your kids run around town because you knew nothing would happen to them. Chilling at Wholesale was the place to be. The cops weren't bad. Taking your kids to the street shower & the pool every Tuesday for free. The rec center was open all Winter. Town fair was all weekend. Halloween parties at the rec were actually inside. If you needed any info, all you had to do was go ask "Granny Pug" at the sev because she knew everything about everything & everyone.

I could go on & on!!!! What the fuck happened?!?! The town is horrible now.

Everyone with a vested interest died out, or moved on to somewhere bigger and brighter. Proprty that couldn't sell, was made into rental, people aren't as invested when they rent... The locks took alot of the extended locals who also took part in the towns businesses and recreational activities. Everything and everyone just seemed to die out. It's sad...

People died off, others lost interest, some moved away because of being harassed (talking about the good ones, not the bad), the town placed a criminal as chief which hires other bad officers, the mayor is only interested in things that will benefit himself, and no one thinks about the town as a whole anymore. Drugs run free here now because the police allow it, the chief is never in town, dating druggies, night shift doesn't do anything but drive around and stop in 7-11 gossiping about everyone with the clerks or spending it at someone's house. There's hardly any police in this town other than they sit on the side of the main road while drug deals happen within town, out in the open!

People always complained that Belle was stuck in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Guess what? Belle has moved into the 2000's and what you see is what you get. Not moving forward wasn't too bad at all was it?

Robbie, I was one of the few who enjoyed it the way it was. I loved it. I grew up in Belle & always said I wanted to raise my family there. It was like the Mayberry town of WV. Now, you couldn't pay to live there. Damn shame.

Drugs are everywhere. Standing up to the issue is hard for those living in fear..People need to take a stand in their community...Don't accept it or allow it. If you are a Landlord, due your Job...whether out of state or in. Watch your property...take pictures of what you see going on....The Belle Police are just a stepping stone to higher authorities.....people don't realize the power that they do have..but it's a WAR, not a battle....

Belle really did used to be the sh*t! I loved growing up there and all of my friends always wanted to come to my house because of all the things we had to do... Now I wouldn't step foot near that place. Cox has bought all the houses and allowed drug dealers to move in, you never see kids out playing like that used to ESP. at the school.. Driving through town on the front street you just see trash trash trash.. So much potential but noone caring enough to make it better. I too wanted to raise my family there but that's all gone to hell now. If they don't bring someone in to run the police station and town hall like it should be Belle will be going to hell in a hand basket before long!!

It's so sad. It's our home town & none of even like driving by it, let alone actually going in Belle. They're never going to have good cops cause Buck doesn't give two shits about that town. He just likes being mayor. It makes him feel important. The way the TOB use to be, will ALWAYS hold a place in my heart. It's like a ghost town now. Anytime I've been there, I've not once seen kids out playing. Shit, when I was growing up, we were outside from the time we got outta school till our parents came looking for us. Now, parents do well to feel safe letting their kids play in the front yard! It's pathetic!

A lot of the kids are inside playing video games. And as a resident, I don't especially WANT kids running all over the place screaming, banging into my car with their bikes, running through my yard, teasing my dog and throwing trash in the streets.

I swear I hope some of you don't take this the wrong way, but it needs said anyway.

When in the hell was Belle ever a good place to live? It's always been a filthy town with uneducated rednecks living off welfare.

Yes it is now, and it was in the 90's and 80's and 70' and......

Belle has never been a nice place to live and raise a family. Shoot, some idiot even compared it to Mayberry. Now that was funny.

LOL

"It has to be said" you're so full of shit. And clearly don't know what the hell you're talking about. Cause I know for a fact it hasn't always been the way it is. A lot has changed in Belle since I lived there.
"DUH" that's too damn bad isn't it? Kids will be kids & dogs will bark. That's just how it is. So, you're telling me you'd rather kids stay insidev& be hermits? Rather than being outside enjoying their youth just because you don't wanna hear your dogs barking? Pathetic! It's people like you that helped the town go to shit.

You may not have been born back then. Neighbors used to sit on their porches and actually talk to one another. If one person had an issue, a neighbor would help out. Widows were looked after by others by cutting their grass or fixing repairs here and there. Kids had a playground at the school that had summer programs, and after you could go to the corner grocer and by a slushpuppy. Or maybe Cohens or Levins. If you need fresh cut meat you went to Lower Belle to Prestons. Shame, you may not have had an opportunity to know those things...sounds like you were a bit "ostracized" by the other kids...maybe because of your "Negativity Streak...." Even Mayberry had kids that broke out street lights...Opie learned a valuable lesson on that episode...

If "enjoying their youth" means destruction of property, littering and tormenting dogs then YES. I bet if your kid teased my dog and then stuck his or her hand in my fence and got bitten you'd be wanting to sue me, huh?

My kids know better than to mess with strange dogs in someone else's yard. But to answer your question, no I wouldn't want to sue you for my kids stupidity. And adults are more destructive than kids. I'm not saying kids are any less messy when it comes to littering. But did it ever occur to you that adults are just as bad? Give me a break. And maybe just maybe, if parents would teach their kids manners littering & destruction of property wouldn't be a problem with kids today. Most parents today don't give a fuck anymore.

It has to be said that YOU'RE AN IDIOT!

Belle had always been a NICE laid back community with ppl that took care of their yards, always out washing their cars, us kids used to play down at the tennis courts or down in the creek and we knew to to home when our parents YELLED for us. Now it's SHIT!! Does anyone even use that new playground they had built? WASTE OF MONEY... I know times changes but dang.. Seems like it's changing for the worst in that place. Laziest is the key word!! And that's when DRUGS take over.. It's sad sad sad
