Hardy should fire him. Come on - brand new built home, expensive cars - on salary of "head maintenance" - which was his title when last invesitgation was done and NOTHING DONE about it.

The bingo players are cheated horribly. The games don't pay out according to what they take in - they "push the pencil" - It's been said they even write down in pencil what they sell to determine how much the player gets for quickies, early birds, wta's etc.- with 150 people buying $6 worth of wta (aveage) that is $900 - a person lucky to get $150 even after $100 for X paid out. They should get the $800 - as it's called WINNTER TAKE OUT - what a rip off. Money in pockets.

also - who the heck investigates the proceeds of the bingo and raffle money - that is also a "red flag" area - Don't they have to give money to charity and report how much money they "make for the Fire Department"??? Wow - no wonder so easy to make big bucks by officials. Doesn't PJ's father sell items to the Department also? Isn't that up for question too?

Hardy can't fire PJ. The board has to that. Since his Dad is the president, I doubt he's too worried. The vfd is a private non-profit. The county gives them money, but has no authority over them. They can only control the money they give them. The same goes for the state or Chesapeake.

The IRS and state tax dept will have to step in.

So this fire department can get MILLIONS in raffles and bingo proceeds and not show WHERE ALL THE MONEY WENT? Where is the Bingo Commission in this latest accusation??

The city itself can dissolve the FD. If a department is located inside of a municipality they can basically do away with the FD. Problem is, can the city survive without the FD.
who knows

Not really. They can stop funding them (which they don't seem to need to survive) and possibly contract with another service, but they can't dissolve a private company. I also think that Chesapeake is required to have fire protection if they are incorporated.

They can make it hard on the FD, but if they got another town to contract with them, they may keep their non profit status? Of course, the building might be an issue. But the city won't take a stand if they could.

Actually yes they can. I don't agree with it however, in this state that can happen within a municipality. This has been looked into in the northern part of the state previously. Depending on the city's ordinances, which I do not know, there are no state statutes that require municipalities to provide fire protection. It is the responsibility of the state fire commission to ensure proper fire protection is provided within this state. They can contract with other entities to provide fire protection within the city.
