stay away from the corporate owned ones. you know, the ones that use a rose as their logo. your money goes out of state. also, they charge you for flowers in their package deals, and if you buy your own flowers elsewhere, you lose the money you pay them. personal experiences, not gossip.

Jerry Odell is the only good choice from Charlton Heights to Chelyan Bridge, family owned and all the work is done there.

The best funeral homes in the area that won't cheat you are Pennington in Gauley Bridge, Fidler and Frame in Belle. I would not take a dog to ODell in Montgomery....who knows what secrets are hid behind that door! The corporate Funeral Homes should be avoided at all cost! Pryor in East Bank is owned by Stonemor who owns Montgomery Memorial Park and Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, they are just out for the money! Stevens and Grass in Malden is also owned by a corporation and should be avoided as well! They are also out for the money!

Every funeral home is out for the money. They operate to make a profit just like any other business. Youf decision to choose a funeral home should be made on the actual people that work there not their owners. If you don't like corporate funeral homes then you should not shop at wal-mart, go-mart, or any other corporate retail store.

I worked at one of the corporate ones and they teach you to get as much of the insurance money you can get, all of it if possible. The corporate cemeteries listed are the same. Most of the cemeteries in the valley are owned by Stonemor out of Pennsylvania. I know what I am talking about do you?

If you are suggesting that family owned funeral homes are not in it to maximize profits you are naive. They all want to make as much money as possible. Elk Funeral Home ring a bell?

All business' are in business to make money! Jim Surratt at Elk Hill Funeral Home just got greedy and got caught! A local funeral home in Montgomery should be next! Just because the owner/funeral director is nice to you and you think he/she is doing all they can for you is not always true! If you have worked in the industry or for them you know what is going on and what they are doing or not doing and who they are trying to run out of business or spreading rumors about!
