I've lived in Marmet for over 30 years. IRS like many places, it has its good and its bad. We have our drug element, but most people here work and have families that stay around for generations. Petty theft is our primary crime. Murders, shootings, kidnapping, etc is unheard of. Your lawnmower may not be safe, but your kids are. Its a very kid friendly community where you can let you're kiss play outside and you are free to walk safely. But if you don't lock your car at night, it will be cleaned out. I think you'll find most people very neighborly and I suggest getting involved with some of the things in town. You'll be considered family in no time.

I have lived here off and on my whole life. It's changed a lot. But you can let your kids out to play and there are places to walk and ride bikes. But you should always be cautious no matter where you are. And lock your home and car at all times. Make sure if you have pets even indoor pets you have tags on them. And like the other comment says get involved with things in the community at least then you'll have some friends and will be able to keep up to date with other town happenings!

I have lived in Marmet all my life. Over fifty years. Marmet is the real Mayberry of the world. Sure we have our problems but real ones are few.

The only real problem I see is that most people dont get involed in town goverment. If you let them make all YOUR dicisions for you, sure you may not like what is done.

Marmet is more of a tribe, its one really big family. Remeber its YOUR home take care of it and your neighbors.

I'm new to this site....but I wanted to post and say that it is certainly a welcomed change to see people in "support" of Marmet instead of downing it all the time.... all communities big and small have their problems. I, myself, have never lived there, but I do have friends and family that have lived their entire lives there and throughout the years I have had the opportunity to visit for extended period of time from time to time...and I loved it. But have never had the joy of lving there. But it really is nice to see good things posted instead of constant negativity.:)

Marmet is a good little town its not perfect but no where is. The neighbors really look out for each other and you don't find that much any more. If there's a house fire, major storm or other crisis, we come together like no one else. After the Derecho, people opened their homes to each other, shared what gasoline or water they had, grabbed their chainsaws and worked for hours clearing roads for others. We watch over each others kids, keep an eye on our elderly neighbors and help whenever we can. That's worth a lot in my book!

Marmet is littered with drugs and drug dealers, we have an ineffective police department due to a major lack of leadership, and most rental properties are now HUD approved which is attracting more & more people of questionable morals into our community.
I used to know everyone in town & I used to be proud to call Marmet home. Now, all I see walking our streets are trashy thugs that litter & show no regard for our town or her residents, or even for themselves for that matter. I am now ashamed to admit to others that I live in MarMETH.
I'm not intentionally being negative. I'm simply putting the truth out there. Truth is, there just isn't much good to say about Marmet anymore.
