Current principal, Melissa Lawrence has refused to let the kids participate in a homecoming event due to "competition" or "drama." My opinion is that the kids need the experience. The whole thing isnt just voting a king and queen, but it's a community activity. It involved alumni. Who remember Cedar Grove as a high school? ME! Those alumni members could come & it would be great. Also--- it would bring in a lot of money for improvement for the school.. What parents or anyone would be interesting in going to the school to complain, or even call? They deserve this!!!

what? They are really taking it away?? It seems like as soon as mr. Carved and Mr, lory left the whole school went down hill. They left my 7 grade year and by the end of my 8th grade year the new principal had taken away our formal and graduation.

i went to cedar grove in the early 80's. we never had a graduation from junior high. homecoming never involved anything but a pep rally and homecoming court other than the football game. homecoming court wasnt good for anything but a popularity contest, a reason to make fun of people, or affermation of the status of the people that got nominated just for a reason to vote em down and make them feel less significant to their peers. i think the pep rally should be held. i think a celebration of cedar grove middle school should be held, but homecoming court and other useless tools to boost the ego of people that are already boosted need to stay deleted. as for the alumni coming to the field and being recognized, that would be ok , but that never happened then either.

The only people who are making a huge deal out of not having it are the girls who think that they'd win on the homecoming court. You're already cocky enough, no need to make your head even bigger.

My child went to CGMS for 3 years and there was NEVER a homecoming. The old principal said they could have one this year but like most administrators before him...he left. Just get over it darling. CGMS will never have a homecoming again. When the girls went out and had t-shirts made that said vote for me or vote for so and so that was it. They haven't had one since and that was long before my kid hit CGMS and they are now out of CGMS. Ms Lawrence may just know what's going on.

Wow you people are supposed to be adult. Obviously your still upset over not being popular when you were in middle school. A kid made this post and look at the stuff you are saying! Damn let someone feel good and proud of their self. Jealousy is so ugly. If its important to then than so be it. Bullies. Grow up. I say LET them have a homecoming!! Your only in middle school once make all the memories you can!! I regret that I missed some opportunities. Fight for your home coming if you want it. And over look these jealous, insecure "adults"

Let me tell you somthing it isnt bout being popular its about these kids making memories and having fun!I cant believe someone would get on here and put these kids down like this, grow up!these kids work hard and when Mrs. Lawerance said she dont want it cause of the comptetion well she should think about these girls and boys out there playing football and cheering for her school(making her (our)school look good, there out there winning and loseing so they are gonna have disappointments and they are gonna have them times of celebration but no matter what they stand as a team and support each other no matter what!!!So yes we are gonna fight for homecoming and weather we get it or not ,we dont know but one things for sure,we stood up and faced this head on and shows we dont back down and fight til the end!I am proud of these kids/parents for doing this cause its about time someone does!!!

whatever you might think, homecoming king and queen IS a popularity contest. it has nothing to do with competition. it has to do with kids feeling good about themselves at the cost of others. by the way....id get spellcheck if i were you

I so believe that I spelled stuff pretty good! And these kids are not worried bout who is more popular, they know who they are already, they just want to have fun and be creative and join in doing this kinda stuff along with every other school in the freaking world! And for another thing, everyone is for it that we have talked to except for the principal. If your not here to support these kids stay off the page and quit writing bad stuff,I mean these are kids, they need support, love and backed up on this, not put down and let down anymore than they already are. They had to sit through East Banks homecoming and the looks on their faces were unable to bare for some because they are not expecting to have one and they just looked so sad over this situation! Its so sad that they have to feel this way all because one person makes them feel this way!Looks to me that you and her both need to open your hearts for these kids!I ahve never seen any grown a** person or anybody at that wanna put kids down and say the stuff that you are saying bout them and waht she is makeing them go through. And another thing is ,all other teams have uniforms to wear and here are kids are wearing shorts and shirt for their activites just because she wont let us order theirs and thats sad as hell if you ask me!I LOVE ALL YOU GIRLS,HOLD YOUR HEADS UP AND STAY STRONG,WE ARE STILL TRYING TO GET THIS DONE FOR YOU ALL,BUT NO MATTER WHAT JUST REMEMBER THE ONES WHO FOUGHT FOR YOU,ESPECIALLY YOURSELVES AND I AM PROUDER OF ALL OF YOU FOR DOING SO!:)

Stand for what u believe in kids! Parents of the kids or most of them that goes there had homecoming at that same place. Sum of the best times in school. I am 35 years old. I went there we had it. My parents did to at the very same school! Whats the big deal? Set some rules. Let them have fun. School. Is so boring. Now days no wounder they don't want to go! And before someone has something to say! I didn't run for homecoming court! But those 2 wish before the game was so much fun! Making decorations to decorating the field!
