It is what it is... your mom AND dad both od'd on drugs. Hate that your dad is gone, he was a hell of a guy, but your Mom on the other hand?? When was she really your Mom anyways? Oh yeah, after your Grandma was too sick and couldn't take care of you anymore and she HAD to take you. Truth is the truth. No one feels sorry for you. Get a job, get a place to live and get a life!

It is a crying shame that people can lose someone they love to addiction, and there are actually folks out there who are too busy pointing fingers to realize that someone out there has lost their mother or father or sister or brother or aunt or uncle or husband or wife way too soon and for no good reason. The loss of a loved one is hard no matter what the cause, but watching someone slowly and methodically destroying themselves is even harder. People who overdose are the saddest cases to me. Behind every addict is a broken family and within every addict there is a broken spirit. The addict will take everyone around them down with them if they need to do so to get their next fix. An addict will sell his or her soul in order to get high. These people don't start out as the "trash" that everyone accuses them of being. Somewhere along the line, an addict chooses to use drugs and somewhere along the line, they get trapped. Does anyone honestly think that an addict has made the choice to be so sick? I think not. Would you wake up one day and just decide to have a deadly illness? No, you would not. So instead of pointing fingers and fighting over the "what if's" and playing "lets kill the dealers", how about we all offer all of the love and support we can for all of the addicts we know out there who are still suffering. I guarantee you that someone in your life is being touched right now in a negative way by drugs. I am not saying give an addict money, I would never do that. I am saying, never stop offering the addict a way to get some help. Learn a little bit about addiction and alcoholism and try to help these people fight their demons. Even if it means getting a mental hygiene warrant on a family member. Even if it means calling the cops on your own son or daughter. If you love someone who has a drug problem, the worst thing that you can do is leave them to their own devices.
