Let me know when they fire Barbara Ciara.

I don't think the problems TKR has with ratings has anything to do with these two reporters. They, honestly, were about the only thing I enjoyed about watching Ch. 3 news.

I like Barbara on air as well. The rest of it just lags behind the other two stations. Don't know why, I've tried to give it a chance.

I think it is the overall station, not just these two. I can't pinpoint it, but there is just something missing. I usually watch them as a back to WAVY. I definitely DO NOT like WVEC news; only as a last resort. I like WAVY personalities and they tend to give a little more coverage of the middle peninsula (not much, but a little). It seems as no matter which one of the three, their listening area is suppose to be from the outer banks to the south and the middle peninsula & Northern Neck to the north, but unless it is Norfolk, Portsmouth, VA Beach or Hampton; it appears as no news ever happens. Of course though, maybe on the other hand that is good. We really aren't second class citizens up here.

Ive been watching this station for many years. I think that both have done a wonderful job. People come and go in this business and I recently wrote in as to why some are not there or where they went. Dave Parker is one I inquired about and now I see he is back! Yeah! Sorry to see them go.

I have like Priscilla Monti since she was on Channel 13. I don't see anything wrong with her image.

WTKR used to be a quality operation prior to Barbara Ciera arriving on scene. She is a blatant racist and has run many quality employees away from WTKR. The station management refused to acknowledge that the problem was her and when the station was sold recently and the general manager replaced there was some hope that they just might get rid of Ciera. Not so. Her political power as president of the black broadcasters have management scared to death. That's their downfall as they would rather be on the bottom and the joke of Hampton Roads than to find the backbone to fire Barbara Ciera.

I suspected this was the case. Thank you for your candid insight.

Most people are watching Judge Judy because she is more entertaining. Gee, let me see now - Barbara Ciara or Judge Judy. It is a big decision, a difficult decision. No contest. JJ wins every time.

Sad to see Monty go. I liked her on 13. News channel 3 has always seemed to be a few years behind the rest of the market. Look at there sets and technology. They follow the CBS Richmond affilliate to the T just a few years later. Watch WAVY, they report a story, change the channel immediately to 13 and you will get the same story, then go to channel 3 and you will get the same headline with a rediculous inturpritation of the events. go back to channel 13 or try 10 Pricilla, just try to stay in the viewing area

Maybe Tidewater area viewers should find a "different presentation" for our news.

To say that Ciara is a racist is just coward. She is an excellent journalist. The reason for all of the new changes is due to change in corporate structure when they were bought out. As a result, even Barbara was taken off the 6:00 news. She has always been a pillar for our community and I am proud that she is president of such a prestigious organization such as the National Association of Black Journalists. The problem with these stations around here is that they only want to cover what's "media appropriate." Thanks to WTKR for being the first to cover the Jena 6 story. Thanks to those at WTKR who had a backbone to stand up to these corporate moguls who do not want to cover stories that mean something to our community. Someone has to do it.

Since when is it cowardly to post facts? A problem though is your racism flaring up because someone dared speak out against Ciara. The problem is not because of the recent changes in station management. It started some years ago when Ciara was lured away from WVEC (13). She could not appear on air for some months because of a non compete contract with WVEC but her presence was soon evident. Many good on air employees have left or given the boot. I spotted her thinly veiled racism right at the beginning of her on air appearances.
Why is it not racist to allow the National Association of Black Journalists but not allow a National Association of White Journalists? WTKR even gives her special paid time off to take care of that position. Talk about discrimination? You cite WTKR's coverage of the Jena6 mob who tried to kill a lone white student. WTKR's coverage was so blatant racist and inaccurate it should have never even aired. The wrong two got canned. One black and one white female, two of the best on the station. It should have been Ciara.

Sounds like you're racist. Wouldn't surprise me if you were from the content of your post. Perhaps a disgruntled WTKR employee.

It's racism only if you are white. Get with the program.

Ciera is the president of an organization many feel is racist. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Perception counts.
