HUNTINGTON, W.Va.(WSAZ)-- A mom has been arrested after police say they caught her shooting up in a car while her daughter was sitting next to her.

According to the magistrate complaint, Courtney Hardy, 21, of Chesapeake, Ohio, was arrested on the parking lot of a convenience store in Huntington Wednesday afternoon.

Police say when they arrived on scene they found Hardy “going in and out of consciousness with her armed tied off and a syringe in her arm injecting an unknown substance with the vehicle running.” They said her 2-year-old daughter was in the passenger seat.

Hardy is charged with felony child neglect and misdemeanor DUI with a minor in a vehicle.

Hardy is currently in the Western Regional Jail.

As if her face and story on wsaz wasn't enough. You're a piece of s*it for this. Yes she made a HUGE mistake and yes she deserves to know that what she did was wrong but is it really the communities job to do that? No. She needs love, love from friends and love from family. With out that, what does she even have to motivate her to get better? Nothing. You are as sick as she is.

The people of this community never surprise me as soon as someone makes a mistake their name ends up on this stupid site. Let's not judge until you make sure your own hands are clean. People make mistakes. It is a part of life you live and you learn. Don't put this girl down instead pray for her. She might have made a mistake but she does not deserve to be trashed on this site. I'm sure each one of you have too made a mistake of your own.

Are you serious?!?! You can't call this a mere MISTAKE!!! This is a person who put the life of a 2-year-old in danger. Are you kidding me by saying that the community doesn't need to know this?!?! What if someone were to trust her to babysit their child?! THEY would need to know this. She is a waste of life. Period.

she'll have plenty of time to think about what she did and "rehabilitate" while she is in prison...where she belongs

You people are absolutely ridiculous for trying to badmouth the creater of this thread and take up for a drug addict who was shooting up in front of their CHILD in plain view of a police officer. The creater is not gossiping, they quoted a FACTUAL news article. She made the FRONT PAGE of the paper. It is being rebroadcasted about 50 times a day. It is one of the most commented events in the tristate next to the missing girl in WV. Her grandmother has already went on record stating they have tried to help her and hope this shakes her into reality.

As for the person who said "I'm sure each one of you have too made a mistake of your own.".. Sorry hunny, but I will NEVER be arrested for shooting up drugs in front of a child because I don't shoot up drugs in the first place!

To the person who asked "How many times do you think she has done this and not been caught?" I hate to think about it because it's probably more times than all your fingers and toes.

Yeah, sorry if I offend you about some of your all's junkie friend whose behavior that involves shooting up drugs in front of her kid is not acceptable to me.

I would hope that she would have 1-5 years behind bars to motivate her to get better.

I'm absolutely amazed at these young girls bringing innocent babies into this crazy world when they havnt grown up theirselves. You know that poor baby was watching her mommy come in and out of consciousness scared to death. I can't imagine. Please dont set and act like this is okay. It isn't. It simply shows she doesn't deserve to have children, & if she doesn't have custody then she doesn't deserve visitation rights. I hate to say that because I truly believe a child needs their mother, and hate to see a child taken from the mother. But under these circumstances she doesn't deserve to even call herself a mother. What she did could have gotten that baby killed, kidnaped and the good Lord only know what else.

what the hell being raised on food stamps? Really. That made her addicted to drugs. Come on! She had food and for that she should greatful. Now if you had told me her mom laid high and drunk. For 1. I know better I know her mom. and for 2. If I didn't know her, I'd say maybe. Cause she'd be repeating what she saw. But Gee really. If your raised on Food stamps then your destine to be a druggy. And she hadn't had many step dads. Maybe 2. I call BS> she wasn't raised that way. It's the friends she is choosing to be arround that's putting her in this postion.

TO CHS 08, let me just say, as a recovering addict myself, addiction is NOT an illness, it is a disease, and that's a big difference, however, it is the only lifelong disease that can be remedied, and that is by choice. First off, it's obvious the girl is in need of help. To put herself in that situation isn't very shocking to me, although putting her daughter in that situation is just downright awful. You can't blame anyone, and I mean, anyone, but Courtney Hardy....she is responsible for her own actions, no one else. Yea, she might have had a rough childhood, so what? That, to me, would make me want to do everything and anything in my power to make sure my child would have the BEST childhood possible. Yes, people make mistakes, but this has crossed the line of being a simple mistake....this was total disregard to her child's life....just think if she had put that car in drive and took off down Washington Avenue to the 17th street bridge and hit a car head on.....what then? Luckily that didn't happen, and luckily her daughter more than likely won't recall any of it when she grows up. Hopefully the courts will put her in a long term intensive rehab so she can get the help and sobriety she desperately needs....prison time for her won't do a thing, drugs are just as accessible inside as they are outside....In my opinion, she needs a minimum of 1 year in a program....these 30 day and 90 day programs are a waste....she needs a full year at least away from it all...maybe then she'll realize how much that little one needs a mom who is there and coherent.

Sorry, I don't care what people say---taking drugs is just like smoking a cigarette or drinking to be drunk---it is a CHOICE not a disease!!! People CHOOSE to smoke that first cigarette, drink that first drink, or take that first drug that in turn made them addicted to the substance that they CHOSE to do.
A disease is something you get through NO choice of your own. So Please get it right. Quit blaming the addiction and blame the one that made the CHOICE to be addicted and stay addicted.

Before anyone starts blaming her friends make sure you blame the RIGHT ONES. All of her old friends have made every effort they could to reach out and get her help and show her support. They missed the old Courtney and just wanted her back. It's her NEW "friends" that have helped her reach the position she is in today. Go to 16th street and find them there, try the pj's too. They are the "friends" to blame if you must blame anyone. The only person that really deserves the blame though is her, herself. Not her mom ( though her mom wasn't always perfect little miss real estate), not her stepdads ( all 4 of them), and not her friends. Blame her.

For those of you saying her mother is trash is ridiculous. Chris is an awesome woman. Courtney has made some very bad choices but she is not a bad person. The drugs have made her a bad person. Yes she chose to do drugs but until you know the feeling that drugs give you, you just don't understand what happens when a person becomes an addict. It fools yor brain into thinking thats all you need to be happy. The habit consumes a person's life. Its not that you truly don't care about your loved ones but the drugs just become more important. Its not something someone "plans". You become addicted and can no longer have control of anything in your life, including your ability to reason and think. Quit bashing her and pray for her. She needs a miracle from GOD....

It won't help she's been in jail before. However I think some blame needs to go to courtney's mom. Why on earth did she leave her grandchild alone with her? She has custody of her for a reason!! People are saying addiction is an illness no an illness is something you CAN'T control! Sorry the only sympathy I have is for her child who witnessed it.
I've read a few of the posts on this site and WSAZ..Chs08..you are the first to even come close to the start of this problem. I'm impressed!
Yep, Mom (Chris) You goofed up from the time she was coming of age!
