I love my town. i moved here in 1982. when i got here from pg. co. i thought this place was so lame<slow<out of touch. after about 2 weeks of not locking my front door and not hearing cop's race past my house @ 3:am every night. i realized this is where i should be. just like the books i read as a kid.{tom soyer} and such. i did get another kid to paint my fence. but it cost me 10 bucks. not a apple.... we need to keep our town small. we need to know eachother. we need peace, love. please keep my little town,my town.

How does one keep it a small little one horse town with people like Donnovan as mayor. Us here in the Willows Beach Colony are being pushed out by out of state money.(Emily Woo) All you can do is lobby against it. The next time there is a hearing to put up condos and beach resort hotels, GO, and raise hell about. The next time there is a hearing to mow over 35 acres of 200 year old forest to build yet another beachside community, GO, and raise hell about it. Show how much you disapprove. Most that disapprove think they can wait around and the problem will just go away. Money hungry developers don't "just go away". They have to be pushed away. Others just don't disapprove. More development means higher resale value on thier property, and they value that more than tranquility. The unfortunate inevitability for CB is that so many have moved there that do not value the place for it's asthetic value but for it's monitary value. So unless a mass stand of disapproval rises citizens, it to will fall to the perills of Princegeorgescountyitis.

Unfortunately, to the small town atmosphere lovers, development will happen no matter where you live. You see, the ones who initially own a piece of property have a right to sell it, development or leave it as is. I moved to Calvert County in 1972 from PG County. You want to talk about a small town Country environment. My GOD, everybody knew just about everybody from the Northern end of the County to Solomons. I don't care where you live, and especially when you live anywhere there is a body or bodies of water, it's gonna grow. I used to LOVE the people that moved to Calvert County in the late 80's early 90's and wanted the doors shut behind them at the County Line..... well guess what, the people that moved there in the 70's wanted the doors shut behind them. Not reality. I now live in Nashville, TN. In just 3 years, it's unbelievable how much the countryside, just outside of this city, has grown. It's just part of life. There will always be loopholes for developers. It's just the way it is. So, my advice on the subject, Make your home a home and enjoy life and all the beauty GOD has put before you. And when you get a new neighbor, go say hello and welcome them. They moved there for a reason too.
