Wow...How many more of these tragic deaths to the citizens of Calver County have to endure, before the county decides ACTUAL TRAFFIC LIGHTS would be best. It's horrible. My heart and prayers go out to the Purvis family. Stay strong.

Life will go on - live it. When I was in high school 27 years ago, one of my best friends Kelly Lawler, died in a car accident. Reality hit - it happens and is never easy, but you go on and live your life. Life is for the living. Grasp it, and love it and love those around you, love those you have lost and don't forget them. Appreciate every day on earth you have.

Viewing at Lee Funeral, Nov. 14, 2-4 and 6-9PM. Service at Chesapeake Church in Huntingtown, Nov. 15 11AM. Interment after here in the county. Reception North Beach fire house around 3PM.

My prayers go out to the family. Ryan was on my son's soccer team, and we played for our division championship Nov. 11 (Sunday). It was a very emotional, but wonderful time. The Purvises (a ton of them from as far away as Texas and England) were there to cheer us on. The other team won in the last minutes of the game, but we were there to celebrate life as much as (well, the parents would say this, maybe not the boys) to win. Nobody wanted to leave the field, even though there was a game right behind ours. We will always remember Ryan, and thank the Purvises for this wonderful chance to be with them in their time of sorrow. Love you, Sue. And we will sure miss your boy!

As a long time citizen of Calvert County, I have been saying for years that this is a local road, not an interstate. I don't live there anymore but I still say stoplights should be put up everywhere! I raised both my boys, ages 32 and 25, in that county and that is where they learned to drive. We moved there in 1986, when there was only 2 high schools in the county and 2 stoplights (one in North Beach and one in P.F.). Route 4 was not completed when I moved there. I remember when there was no route 4, since my uncle lived on Calvert Beach all my life. Calvert Beach Road was a gravel road back then. Anyway, I also remember when they wanted to block off Ball Road/Calvert Beach Road for the Pax River folks and "up" the speed limit to 70 miles per hour so the Pax River folks could get to work sooner. A petition worked and a light was put up instead. THIS is not an interstate in Calvert is the only way in and out, basically. It IS a local road to folks who live there. I lived in White Sands for 18 years and there is NO way out but Route 4. Since CC has grown so much now, more stoplights are needed. At every intersection, if necessary (even if becoming like Waldorf). My eldest son had totaled my car at the Route 4 turn to the Ranch Club many years ago and survived...There is a light there now. I love CC and it will always be home to me, but it is much changed over the last 20 years. Stoplights must be put up. Not just through Dunkirk, Huntingtown and PF but throughout the county. Slow them people down!!

Dear Alyson,
I know you can see this girl. We miss you so much. Sarah, Shelby, I know a whole lot of people who want you back. It's over half a year since you've been gone but I think about you everyday. I'm still wishing on the stars. I'll see you again one day.

Love you Angel.

When I drove by the intersection yestrerday I noticed that the intersection has been changed. A conctete platofrm forces traffice to be diverted south on Rt 4 instead of crossing. I guess they are trying to discourage people from shooting across that dangerous intersection.

I cried Wednesday. I cried for Aly, I cried for Ryan. How can I miss someone I barely knew? How can I miss a friendship that barely got off the ground? I don't know. I don't know a lot of things Aly. All I know is we miss you. God, do we miss you. It's a year this week but it feels like it's only been a day.

I love you, forever and ever.

I agree with Samantha. Practice what you preach to your children. When they are in the car with you, they see what you do and how you react behind the wheel. Maryland drivers are the scariest. I'm not saying we are the worst, but I have lived in Fairfax County, VA and West Virginia and I can say that MD roads scare me the worst. Calm down MD and enjoy the scenery.
