Cherryville names new City Manager weeks after police scandal

Weeks after a scandal hit the Cherryville Police Department, the city has a new City Manager, according to Cherryville Mayor Bob Austell.

Same old crowd so do expect much to change. They won't allow anyone with new ideas.

Good ole boy network? Maybe. But there is merit in what you say. "we have always done it this way". Maybe the city counsel should have ensured that someone NOT associated with the city in the past was offered the position. But the way they talked about this decision was the very fact he was from Cherryville and had worked here before is what attracted them to his qualifications.

I think it might be a matter of damned if you do and damned if you don't. They has to make a decision quickly because of the pressure from citizens and they went with tried and true instead of an unknown.

I'm pretty sure that they "should" know what tried and true gets you. This stuff in Cherryville has went on for years.
