A 747 can cruise well over 500 mph. 228 miles divided by 500 equals 27 minutes to get there and 27 minutes to return. That is 54 minutes (less than one hour for the mathematically challenged) Add in 20 minutes of taxi time and waits for clearance delivery.
That is ONE HOUR and 14 minutes. Why do intelligent people not think before believing all this BS?
Presidents have been using taxpayer planes for fund rasing for many years. It needs to be stopped.
<quoted text>
"NEW YORK (AP)— Melding 2014 needs with 2016 hopes, President Barack Obama is teaming up with an ally and fundraiser of former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to help the Democratic Party erase a worrisome debt.

Obama was in New York Tuesday to raise money for the Democratic National Committee at a high-dollar fundraiser at the home of Alan Patricof, the founder of a New York venture capital fund. Patricof is a longtime Clinton friend and fundraiser for her Senate and presidential campaigns, and the event aligns the Obama and Clinton orbits as the former first lady considers a White House bid in 2016.

It also illustrates the overlapping fundraising draw that Obama and Clinton represent at a crucial time for the cash-strapped DNC. And it helps bridge some internal party tensions between donors who are merely interested in presidential politics and the Democrats' needs during this year's midterm elections.

Patricof wrote in a February email to contributors that he and his wife, Susan, had been "relatively quiet on the political front" following Clinton's loss to Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary.

"The most effective way that we all can be helpful to Hillary, and the Democratic Party in general, is to make sure that the Democratic National Committee is as strong as possible if Hillary should decide to run in 2016 and, for that matter, if any other good candidate appears on the scene if she decides not to be in the race," Patricof wrote in the email, first reported by Politico.

He called the fundraiser with Obama a "fireside chat" that would include 13 couples — 26 people — paying up to $32,500 per person. Obama's conversation with donors will be private. White House press secretary Jay Carney said Obama's talk will not be public because he is not making formal remarks.

The DNC has been trying to pare millions of dollars in debt accumulated during Obama's re-election campaign; through the end of January the DNC owed more than $15 million.

Obama also made a brief stop at a midtown Gap store to show support for the chain's decision to increase wages for U.S. employees to a minimum of $10 an hour by next year. Obama wants Congress to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10, but lawmakers have resisted."

Condy Rice is an amazing woman, but I guess you're right, she must be"bad"since she's a Republican. Most Black Republicans are marginalized by the left. Remember, these idiots at Rutgers say Rice isn't good enough to be a commencement speaker there, which is one of the most racist things I've ever heard. As long as Black people tow the liberal line, the white liberals love them. If they dare to go in a different direction, Big White Daddy removes his"approval".

Ben. Oh what a tangled web we weave---. The slam accusation in your post was that the president had used up 3 hours and 45 minutes flying time on a government 747 for a 228 mile fund raising trip. I don't think he should be using our planes for fundraisers. But the trip was ONE HOUR and 14 MInutes at most and NOT 3 hours and 45 minutes. So your post contained a 300% lie and this follow up post doesn't even address that lie.
Now, the fundraiser story has a valid point which I appreciate. But when you ENHANCED
the story with an obvious fantastical lie, you negated the significance of your point. Why is the truth just not good enough for republicans?

"Overall the department is asking CONGRESS for about $135.2 billion----"
Do you even read your own posted links?

The budget documents for 2015 offer new details on Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel’s proposals last week to reduce spending on pay and benefits. Those included controversial calls for Congress to limit troops’ pay raises, slash housing allowances by about 6 percent, eliminate commissary subsidies in many locations and boost Tricare fees for families of active-duty troops and working-age retirees.

Overall the department is asking Congress for about $135.2 billion for military personnel, the lowest request since 2008 when adjusted for constant 2014 dollars, according to newly released budget documents and data provided by Visual DoD, a private-sector information technology firm that tracks Pentagon spending.

That includes plans to shed about 36,700 troops from across the force, bringing the total size of the active-duty component down to about 1.31 million. The Army will absorb the brunt of those cuts as it drops about 20,000 soldiers in 2015.

The Pentagon is also mounting a new attempt to cut travel costs. Specifically, that effort will reduce per diem rates for troops on extended travel. It will also eliminate reimbursements for laundry services, bottled water and other “incidental” expenses. Officials could not immediately provide details of the new per diem rates.

Family support programs are facing some reductions, reflecting in part a slowdown in renovating Defense Department-run schools. Child care and youth programs may also see reductions, according to the budget documents.

NC republican Governor McCrory gutted the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, slashed the DENR budget, fired water quality personnel, shrunk polluter fines, reduced restrictions on industrial pollution, changed DENR's mission from protecting the environment and NC citizens to a mission of protecting polluters and now wants NC customers to pay for the clean up of all Duke Energies coal ash dumps by rate increases on electricity.
NC State Attorney General Roy Cooper says Duke should pay for the clean up out of the 3 billion dollar profit they made last year. Cooper says NC citizens should not be forced to pay for Duke's carelessness.
McCrory says Cooper is politicizing the clean up .
