Rolling Stone is wrong. We already have socialism ---for the rich and corporations. I would like to return to free enterprise where legislators do not pass laws making it difficult for small businesses to even survive, much less compete against the mega corporations.

I see you are using my name in vane again. Many of our students already take responsibility for their learning. The schools are doing a fine job educating those who want education and who understand that education is an investment in their own future. Too many parents ,(mostly republikans) fail to understand the importance of education in their child's future. That contempt for learning and truth is communicated to their children who then do not take education seriously and therefore are not particularly outstanding students. The parents lie and make excuses for their children to the schools and in doing so , teach their children to lie and not to accept responsibility. Then the idiots blame the schools and anyone else available for their own stupidity, laziness, lack of responsibility and lack of realistic ambition..
One thing that would help NC school children to improve their academic performance immediately, this year, would be for the republikan state legislature to fund textbooks for the children. Neither you nor I would have learned well in school without books . Many children do not have computers at home to do their assigned reading and homework. The schools do not have computers at each student' s desk. Ignorant republikan legislators are out to destroy public education. They think if we return to the ways of the ignorant past, the idealized past will return. It won't . Things cannot be like they never were to start with.

will return.

TSF will point to school funding, yet many countries with better performing students than we have here in America, spend far less than we do here, to educate their kids.TSF, I ask you, when do our kids take some responsibility for their poor performance in scholastic endeavors? I will never vote for Sen K. Hagan-(NC Dem)- One of the ORIGINAL
signers of ObamaSnare in 2009 she has been saying all along that she knew nothing of the "BIG LIE". That she didnt know about this "BIG LIE" as recently as 2 months ago. Questions at a news conference drew stone silence from this Senator's mouth. She and others like her hope that their constituents (you and me) will have forgotten all of it by then!

There are several reasons that I know of. 1. Our school system is very top heavy administratively with $100,000 dollar + salaries who never teach a single student. For every 39 teachers actually teaching children, there are 61 administrative and support persons. That is the national average and NC is pretty much average in that respect also.
2, With NC children having no text books, why is it surprising that they have learning difficulties?
3. Germany, for instance, divides students by the 6th grade into academic curricula schools and trade curricula schools. The above average academic student do not sit there bored silly and time isn't wasted trying to the trade curricula students theoretical math for instance.
Here, the schools are forced to pretend that everyone is exactly capable of learning.
4. Here, the courts sentence criminal offenders back to school

Not like a weather vane but like vain as in unproductive.

Sorry about your friend and his mother. They are in the same boat with millions of others who have no insurance, no money and no prospects of getting any help. I believe the insurance companies are using the health care confusion for cancelling people out to dump medical liabilities. Last year I was informed by letter that my premiums would be lowered. WRONG. They have been increased by almost $20 per month per person. This is not Obamacare and I don't see how it is even connected. Insurance companies just make their own rules apparently.

The people who came to America had to struggle with nature and contend with men. They broke their backs scratching out a living from the land, but to them it was worth it, they earned what they had.How do all the fine people today compare to those people? Not very well. Those who have everything given to them on a platter, aren't worth much. Human nature.
