The republican BS about public schools never fails to astound me.
Those chemistry teachers talking about colligative properties are not teaching collectivism. Colligative properties are those which depend on the ratio of solute particles to solvent particles, like freezing point depressions and boiling point elevations. Geeze!
There are a few excellent private schools in NC. They are widely scattered , expensive and rare. Republikans understandably want their "special" children insulated from the frustrations of life. Everyone would, and the fable is that private schools provide that.. But private schools are expensive and therefore the idea of vouchers and then subsequently, direct payments from the state to private schools to off set the cost. The public generally will not support that unless we can prove the public schools are failing to make Einstein's out of every snot nosed reprobate in their charge. So defund the public schools to insure that they fail. Spend money and a large portion of the school year testing instead of teaching. This will prove that the kids are not being taught , especially if we give the tests before any teaching has occurred on those questions..
The population cannot make wise and logical decisions without information and with only lies. That is why they vote for charlatans. that is why republikans hate education.
<quoted text>
You are just to much! No, collectivism has nothing to do with chemistry teachers or algebra teachers, it has to do with the whole system in general!
Example; teachers teach that there's no "I" in "team." That is collectivism! They're teaching the whole is greater than the individual. They're teaching that the individual achievements don't matter, the achievements of the "team", or the greater good, is more important. That's BS! By teaching collectivism, they're setting the children up for failure through a false pretense that their winners because of someone else's achievements. They're actually teaching mediocrity, that it's ok to be average because that's what the Commucrats want. It's easier to control failed, average, mediocre citizens!
If one would teach individualism, that the individual achievements do mean more, than the "team" WILL succeed as a whole! Society would be consist of more actual winners.
News Flash; contrary to the Commucrats agenda, not everyone in "real" life can be winners, not everyone can receive a trophy!

One of our country's greatest attributes is The US military. Go tell anyone who has served in time of war that our nation could have accomplished these great feats of victory against almost impossible odds throughout 240 years of history as individuals, and not as a collective unit. Tell me the response that you get.

Strange. I went to public schools and I never got any of that. Maybe I was asleep that day. MY kids went to public schools and never even once mentioned any of that. The only collectivism anyone ever tried to put on me was in my youth and brief tenure in the Caldwell County sweat shops. I was frequently accused of "not being a team player" by republikan whip masters even though my productivity was as competitive as anyone there. Republikans tried to tell me that I was a special person who "must work with vigor or be replaced with a (n word)." Republikans tried unsuccessfully to teach me to kiss ass but I thought they said kick ass. That got me fired which was the best thing to ever happen, because then I learned to enjoy the profits of my own labor instead of giving the profits to others..

Really? Compare the teaching of young minds to a group of adults fighting wars?

You probably went to school 20 years ago! Much different game today.

"The problem isn't that Johnny can't read. The problem isn't even that Johnny can't think. The problem is that Johnny doesn't know what thinking is; he confuses it with feeling." - Thomas Sowell

What "Pro" is saying is society is more concerned with the feelings of the child than the level of education he or she is receiving.

Pro is correct in his assumption.

The young minds have not been tested in battle yet, so you haven't a clue about how they will respond to crisis, unless you are some kind of Nostrodamus, that I seriously doubt. I bet after the 9/11 tragedy, you had "United We Stand" bumper stickers pasted all over your car. You and Pro both. That is pure collectivism that you somehow deny is unimportant for the success of this nation.

Kids should be taught the value of independent thinking & working *and* the importance of contribution to the community, especially in school or on the job.
I can't think of a single person that lives their life without ever interacting with others.
I have a nephew, who is a talented programmer, but he is selfish & self centered. He has lost (3) 6 figure jobs because he is not a team player.

Deny the definition of collectivism:

collectivism
noun (Concise Encyclopedia)

Any of several types of social organization that ascribe central importance to the groups to which individuals belong (e.g., state, nation, ethnic group, or social class). It may be contrasted with individualism. Jean-Jacques Rousseau was the first modern philosopher to discuss it (1762). Karl Marx was its most forceful proponent in the 19th century. Communism, fascism, and socialism may all be termed collectivist systems. See also communitarianism; kibbutz; moshav.

These young minds are tested everyday....in life and most fail miserably. It's only after they've reached the "real" world,(and not some utopia that they've been taught exists), that they learn to rely on themselves, it's sink or swim and most STILL sink!
I personally don't buy bumper stickers but I did read where the "Cash for Clunkers" program was a success......it actually help to remove most of the cars displaying Obama stickers from the highways!
Collectivism is not only unimportant for the success of this nation, it's the very thing that will help to bring down this nation! With 47% of the population already relying on the govt in some form or another, it won't be long before that utopia really DOES exists!

Actually Ohio St ranks 5th when it comes to producing NFL players behind....
4th - LSU
3rd - Texas
1st (Tie)- USC & Miami

Breeding ground may be an overstatement.
