I totally applaud the mother for doing what she did. She might have possibly saved his life because, hopefully this will scare him straight. I know the young man personally and I can affirm that he was definitely going down the wrong path. At 16 years old, most kids need a wake up call to let them know that they aren't as tough and invincible as they think they are.

The only reason marijuana is illegal is because the government can't tax it.

Awake- You know, it is people like yourself that really irritate me. I have not once bashed anyone in this blog; and yet, you decide to come into a blog that I started and decide to call me an idiot. I assure you that I am quite educated; and my research has shown to me that,hmmm.....that's right, marijuana is still illegal to grow such as this boy was doing. Also, I actually work with addicts and with talking to them; it always seems that pot was always the "starter" drug. I am not for sure, but I believe that this is research enough. You send a link to watch a video on google; and yet you don't think that the internet is it's own form of propaganda in itself. I can understand the reasoning why one might think that the reason it is illegal is because it cannot be taxed at this time, but the fact still remains; it is ILLEGAL!!!!! Awake, should we all just drink and drive as well, or maybe rape and pillage as well.

You're right, I should have called you ignorant. I too believed the lie once.

Ever stop to wonder why it's illegal? Watch the video. No, it's not only because they can't tax it. That is actually a small part of the reason why.

They say the evil weed is bad for you, makes you crazy and kill your parents. That's the evidence used to make it illegal btw. What a bunch of horse shit. 90 seconds of deliberation before the vote.

We have all been lied to once again.

Comparing drinking & driving, raping and pillaging to smoking weed is absurd.

I totally agree, marijuana is a natural grown herb. There's nothing wrong with it,except the goverment can't control it. "God made grass, man made booze.Who do you trust?"

Yea maybe in 16 year olds(I agree that he is too young to be smoking pot)or in some stupid a** retard that is already an addict and blames everything on the pot.Whatever it's all bull sh*t.

I am a teenager. I have my high school diploma, and am also in college. I have a job as a supervisor and I don't see anything wrong with smoking pot, or growing it either. It may be illegal, but look around. No one cares. I know quite a few people here in Stanley who smoke pot. I believe it's only a matter of time until it is legalized. It is ridiculoud that people say things like "if we legalize marijuana, people will want us to legalize harder drugs". That is bs. Marijuana is perfectly natural, unlike alcohol. Personally, I'd rather see kids growing their own pot than going to visit a drug dealer. That's where pot can become a gateway drug.

Also, I don't think this mother should have gotten her son arrested. It will keep him from getting a job for years. While if she was a very good parent then she could handle the problem herself.

Let the dude grow some green. He probably wanted some extra cash for his family, to help them out, since there aint many jobs right now. And weed is the best.
Holla at me southern bells.

Its not illegal because the government cant tax it. Its illegal because they already make an assload of cash off of busts and simple possesions. If they legalize it they will lose money. I dont see anything wrong with pot. Ive never heard of anyone gettin high on pot and beating their wife or anything of the sort...now alcohol on the other hand...

The kid would have done something in the neighborhood of pot anyways. No one can tell me they never did anything illegal while being a child. Everyone experiments. Pot, underage drinking, any drugs you experimented with.

Right on Stanley teen, you appear to actually get it unlike the OP who actually believes that sending YOUR OWN CHILD to jail is okay. That really makes me sick. Punish the kid in your own ways if you really care so much, but please, don't rely on the government to teach your kid what's right and what's wrong. I too believe that weed will eventually become legal as the stigma slowly dies along with the people who actually believe the government propaganda. I think that the propaganda has been imprinted into their brains ever since they were little, but today people are becoming more open-minded and educated. And also, what does it matter if it is illegal or not? People are going to do it anyways, and making it legal will put it in the hands of trusted people instead of criminals. I can understand that maybe the OP is just the type that likes to follow the rules and maybe I'm just a rebel at heart, but you can't ignore the fact that we are being lied to.

I can understand not doing it for side-effects you may not enjoy, but that list of side-effects sure is shorter most drugs found at your pharmacy today. This is a subtle issue, and should not even be held as a matter of argument. And guess what; that's the only "issue" I know of.

I think that the main reason that it is illegal is because it opens up your mind and allows you to see the truth. This obviously scares the government as they want to always have people under their control.

And when someone does try to help, she stands in the way like the savior of his life...NOT

You are correct he is a good kid with potential in a bad situation that keeps getting worse.

Ready4 what the hell are you talking about. The government doesn't make money off arrests. They lose money. They try to get it back through bails. But the truth is the amount of money that goes into building jails, hiring policemen, and all the money that goes into advertising is way too much. If the government was smart they'd legalize it so they don't lose all the "precious" money of there's.
