Cherryville is a good place to live. People here have been shaken up and rightly so. What can go wrong has. Power is going up 27.5% in the next few years because of poor decisions by Cherryville leaders. Faith in town hall and our police department has disappeared. The SBI and FBI have come to our town and investigated our neighbors and trusted friends and some have been discovered wanton. Rumors fly and people do not seem to wave as much. Hopefully the investigations will end soon and an other bad apples brought out into the light of day.

So what next?

1. Definitely a change of leadership is warranted I think.

2. Dissolve the Cherryville Police department and bring in the county police department.

3. Encourage trusted, honest men and women to step up for leadership roles.(there has to be honest men and women here)

4. Trust in faith to carry us through.

5. Continue to encourage economic development.

We can hide our heads in shame or hold them high and continue on with determination and resolve.

What say you?

My mom's power bill is already more than her house payment was for 30 years. She lives on a fixed income and can't possibly pay 27% more for electricity. She will be forced to sell out and move to Crouse. There's a comparable house there for $130,000 and the taxes are considerably less than Gaston County's taxes and there are no city taxes. The biggest plus is it has REA power. it's sad as she has lived here all her life, but Cherryville and Gaston County are both insane. I am thinking about doing the same. Get out while I can ...assuming someone's stupid enough to buy a house here.
