U.S.: Army Sends Infant to Protective Services, Mom to Afghanistan

Full story: Inter Press Service

VENTURA, California, Nov 13 - U.S. Army Specialist Alexis Hutchinson, a single mother, is being threatened with a military court-martial if she does not agree to deploy to Afghanistan, despite having been told she would be granted extra time to find someone to care for her 11-month-old son while she is overseas.

don't even get me started - you might fool the media, but you won't fool the Soldiers stationed with you.

Single mothers do not belong in the Army.Their child care plans are always horseshite. They never, ever work out because they were imaginary. They should deploy you to Afganistan. When your deployment is COMPLETED,you should be discharged.Out of the Army, your "chirren" can be your own problem.

It is wonderful that you would go to hell and back for your children.Just don't go into the Army as a single mother for the pay and benefits-------and then be totally damned useless.

Was she in the Army when she got pregnant? This could have been her plan to delay or get out of deployment? Perhaps there should be a rule, no single parents allowed in the armed services for this specific reason. But I am sure there are other more respectable single parents serving our country. I understand her not wanting to leave her child, who would? But MANY, if not MOST of our deployed soldiers are parents. Either way she is currently separated from her child and someone is watching it if she is in custoday.

Daily Horoscope for December 16

Cancer

Today's New Moon in your sixth house reminds you not to neglect your health or general well-being. It's the ideal time to arrange a check-up with your doctor or dentist, or to follow up a medical query. Cancerians love yummy food, and the festive season is hardly the best time to start a diet, but you still might want to monitor your calorie intake.
