Most villagers are happy to see the at least half of the building gone. Yes, errors were made but the complaints about the demolition were made by residents that have an axe to grind with the village or are on an ego trip. I feel that the story was rather one-sided. As a former mayor, I would have gladly commented on the problems we had had with that building.

Knock it down. Asbestos outdoors won't hurt you. The NYS Labor department has nothing to do because all the jobs (labor) have left NYS.

As a former resident that still owns a house in the village it is easy to see this is a power struggle by a "ceo" that thinks C means Chief and a mayor that has a git er done attitude , Geez even Fred Weaver was`nt that big of a prick but when something needs done it is always blocked by some sort of political BS and even though I no longer live there I am still a Taxpayer of the village and I say go Dean and get er done

Wow, the building inspector actually did something? I've seen numerous properties in the Cherry Creek area that beg to demolished. Did he miss those? Sounds like there is a little more to it when you find someone is actually working at their job when they haven't for years.

It appears that alot of the people doing the bashing on TV and on the posts have no idea what they are talking about. First off the television interview was from someone who is on welfare and living off the taxpayers. Seems like there is alot of that in Cherry Creek. A bunch of white trash that has run the village down. Seems to me like the residents that actually care want the eye soar of the school gone. It is also VERY dangerous and should have been torn down long ago. Point being, seems to me that the village was trying to get rid of a very unsafe eyesoar.

I am from Cherry Creek. This is a great old building, but it has been in disrepair for years. A few years ago one side of the building blew in and fell down. I have a focus in Historic Preservation at UB and even I say it is to late to save it and it should just be cleaned up. Are we going to have to wait another whole year before anything is accomplished? Where has the owner of the building been the last decade when work needed to be done on it? All of this hoopla is just going to delay the process and cause the pile of rubble to sit for a lot longer.

Ok..Here's the dumb question. YOu have the building half knocked down and obviously there is exposed asbestos already. Why not enclose the building in a plastic shield and complete the demolition? The horse is already out of the barn folks.. don't know which is worse in this areas list of sins. The attention deficit disorder in following locical rules or the 'everything comes to a halt till we thuroughly discuss this' syndrome.

Maybe they are waiting for a child or someone to get in there and get hurt. Or maybe they are waiting for someone to start it on fire and the fire dept goes out and one of them gets hurt. Then it will be an important issue...
