For some reason, the City of Cherokee Village has decided to put a special tax on restaurant food and nightly rentals in the village. Supposedly, it is to be used for advertising. It is my opinion, that we don't need any more advertising for the village. Every web site you go into for real estate agents, etc. focuses on the village. not only that but Hardy has this tax and they advertise which brings people to the village as well. This will be another 2 percent tax and will be decided by the counsel and not the people. I say they should hold a special election and let the people vote. I don't think the money would go to advertising myself.

After all everyone Is welcome.But yes I agree the money,s will not be spent according to the mandate.

Tourism declined is due to the economy and the reputation of the CV police department. Too much BS in this town and it pisses me off because it decreases the value of my property.

You're absolutely right. You've gotta know someone in the CV hiarchy in order to get hired. They can do whatever they like because no one wants to stand up and help set things right. So, they get more and more beligerant knowing that no one has the guts to go against them.
We're already taxed to death and get nothing in return.

The meeting was informational only, City council will vote on the issue after hearing the public opinion at the meeting
