WNC proms begin this week

I am surprised, in this economy, that the schools still do this.

People have to have fun somewhere! Proms are an integral part of high school culture. Of course there are ways to hold the costs down that people may not have thought of. Not all schools are having theirs at the Biltmore Estate (though this would be nice). There are lots of nice used evening gowns out there and other ways to economize.

You're suprised why? Could you imagine telling seniors that "sorry there will be no prom this year." Plus these places are booked years in advance, and there's probably an expensive penalty for cancellation.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 2009 prom!

Proms are fun? I missed out on the fun part.

It would be extremely difficult to ask a daughter (not so much a son) to give up prom.
And Biltmore has always been very fair with their pricing and great to work with on proms. Best of all--it is a secure location. Only the prom guests get in. I can rest easier about that.
