For about the 6th time, we were in Cherokee this past weekend for the bike rally. What the heck was going on there? As we stood outside on our balcony talking to a couple next door 14 law cars piled into the parking lot, where nothing other than 2-3 bikers reving up their motors had gone on. First the guys were told to stop, then the policemen told people outside if anyone had alcohol in their hands they would be cited for open containers. Then about half an hour later, this female cop with a huge chip on her shoulder came back after they had all marched across the road to another hotel, and told us all if we did not go into our rooms we would be taken to jail. NO ONE WAS DOING ANYTHING other than talking!!!!! Is there are law against being outside after midnight in Cherokee? Does Cherokee not want the revenues from the bike rallies any longer? I have never felt so unwelcome anywhere. Along with spending $70 on arm bands; $271 on hotel room; $115 on food; and $30 on gas we went to the Casino and spent a few dollars. I suppose Cherokee law enforcement does not want bikers there anymore from the welcome committee we had. So, we along with several other couples will not be returning again. We will spend our money in a community that wants us.

Does Cherokee have one large campground area or are people scattered throughout the area?

There are several campgrounds throughout the area and if you plan to go you might want to reserve a campsite as early as possible because they tend to fill up fast.
