I love the new Stockyard Steakhouse. The Prime Sirloin was good, but the Stockyard is Great!

I have never had food as bad as this place. It cost 32 bucks for the buffet for two people. Everything was cold as ice and tasted like crap. Please, don't waste your time or your money.

Went to Cherokee this last weekend for a visit. Saw the Stockyard Steak and boy did it smell good. It was busy, which is usually a good sign. My son and I ordered sirloin steaks which came with the salad bar and dessert bar. I paid $32.00 for us to eat and have a beverage. The salad was good. A fair selection of things to add to it. Crisp lettuce. After 30 minutes of waiting, we finally got our steaks. They were overcooked and the worst I'd ever eaten. They were dry, had NO flavor, and were so tough. They might as well have served shoe leather! It probably would have been better. The server offered to have them redone. I declined. He brought steaks off the buffet, but they were just as bad. My baked potato was awful too. It had obviously been baking all day and was burned and over-cooked too. The dessert bar was just ok. Nothing spectacular.
Don't waste your time or your money. If you see this place, just keep driving! Wendy's would be better!

This place is the worst buffet I've ever seen, a total ripoff at $32 for two people. We literally could not recognize what some of the seafood items were. Steak??? Please, its like shoe leather. The sign outside says the best buffet in Cherokee. DO NOT EAT HERE!

paid almost 40 dollars for the buffet.i had the seafood. the shrimp had no taste and had the feeling of wet clay in your mouth. the fish had no taste at all like all of the seasoning was left off.the steak was cooked to the point you couldnt chew it. the cabbage was under cooked and had no salt. the only thing on the bar you could eat was a boiled potato and its pretty hard to screw that up. worst place i ever ate. i had to go to wendys after that to get a frosty and get the taste out of my mouth.

This use to be a good place, I don't know what happened to it. It is over priced and definately NOT the best buffet in town. DO NOT waste your time or money there. Very few locals will even go there, even with a local discount it is not worth it.

I was reading about the comments made about STOCKYARD STEAKHOUSE i have been eating in the restaurant for years they have made lots of improvements since prime sirloin. The cement statutes they have placed outside are wonderful. The ten commandments with Jesus and Mother Mary is great that tells you alot about the owners they are very caring people and also the indian on the horse is a piece of art. They have the best fried chicken i have ever tasted in my life. One of the few places that i have seen fat back on the buffet. I enjoy all the home cooked vegetables.

I went twice within the last two months. I thought maybe the first time was a "bad night" for them. I have to admit, I did not eat the chicken either night BUT I did not have a good experience either night either. I doubt that I will be going back at all. I would rather go to Ryan's in Sylva if I am going to spend that amount of money!

Jesus ,Mary and Joesph could not raise a big enough miracle to do a thing about improving the outright garbage that passes for Cuisine in that "restaurant". You say having statues of Jebus, Mary and the 10 COMMANDENTS tells you alot of the owners ? What it tells me is that is how CARING they are then they deserve a quick trip to hell. So one could assume it is perfectly fine for CHRISTIANS to serve such terrible food to the public and have no qualms about taking $16 a person in the process.

Thier religious belief has nothing to do with the quality of food at the restaurant. You can talk about the quality of food but why drag someones religion or race into it?? Makes no sense. Before you post next time, read it over and THINK before you press that "Post Comment" button. It is okay not to believe the way someone else does but to use it as a way to cut someone down is uncalled for.

I agree that their religious beliefs should have no bearing on the quality of their food. However (and I'm not saying these folks are practicing this), some people have taken to using their religious beliefs as either a weapon (politics) or a tool (the Christian "insurance companies"). I for one am suspicious when I see blatant proclamations of any religion. I think this is what the previous poster was referring to.

I have to agree with you 100% Fairness! The sad fact is MANY use religion to promote themselves and they also use it as a weapon. Heck, they used it to justify the killing of Indians. I also steer clear of any business displaying that kind of stuff. I just don't believe in using it to criticize anyone. I have experienced to much racisim myself and I will stand up quickly when it comes to someone being ridiculed for their race, sexual prefrences, religion etc .. This world is made up of different people for a reason and tolerence is such an important part of day to day life. We don't have to agree with everyone and I don't. Yet everyone has the right to be who they are without the threat of ridicule. Even though I disagree with what Knotme said, due to the fact of HOW they said it, I in turn agree with the principle BEHIND what he/she said. The white man has come to the Qualla Boundary time and time again to "tame the savage" and bring their religion in when we had our own to begin with. So what I am saying all in all I guess is that we can disagree with something without criticing the person for the belief. I believe things can be done in a very tactful way which Knotme failed to do in that post but then again, that is just my opinion. I know what Knotme was getting at and they had a hard time communicating that without being accusational and resentful. To know Knotme may explain why they feel that way. I feel that Knotme is a good person and they have been hurt in some way and have valid reasons for the way they feel.(again, my opinion) Fairness, you put it very well in words and I think that is exactly what Knotme was trying to say!:)

Got to Laugh - You are so correct. Both of those restaurants are wonderful and well worth the money. They have been here in Cherokee for years and are known to the locals and both are wonderful places to eat. They have good food, great prices, family atmospheres and you feel welcome when you are there. I love the fact that I can walk in a restaurant and order up an Indian Taco, or Frybread and chili. Restaurants like that are few and far between (except right here at home) I guess that is part of what I miss when I have to leave Cherokee. If I were to do that anywhere else, I would be looked at like I just walked off a flying saucer.

I used to work for Don Keaton... When the restaurant was Prime sirlion. Believe me it is still garbage. I regret to say i went back after the name change because they were the only place iring and u cant blame someone for needing money... I would have rather worked at mcdonalds. Probably the same money for easier work... and you guys want to know why the food is garbage? it is saved from days and sometimes a week before... the kitchen is filthy and i wouldnt recommend anyone to even set foot in that place. have any of you people noticed any American employees? besides a small handfull of servers? if you need ask why that is... Its because don can hire illegal foriegners for minimun wage and pay them no overtime. when i worked there i couldnt stand taking peoples money for that food... the health score was once a 77. maybe that had something to do with the kitchen staff not speaking or reading english? oh well... But i was once instructed to take the health score down so customers couldnt see it... the excuse if the inspector came in was "I am cleaning the wall around the picture frame..." A complete load of crap. and i saw a comment about the baked potatoes? that was the number one complaint they were overcooked or not cooked enough and were cold... thank you and i hope you do take this nto consideration

We both got sick this past weekend eating there. Also the restrooms were horrible.

IS THIS PLACE EXEMPT FROM HEALTH INSPECTIONS??? There is no way it could legally be kept open!
