...it is 13 degrees at my house at 12:23pm on Wed. I don't think we are going to experience a heat wave this afternoon or tonight, so Mr. Dodson, please announce it tonight.

Probably trying to avoid all the complaining from parents. Since the last time they called a 2 hour delay early then had to cancel in the morning. So now we will all have to wait til morning so those who always complain if they lose their babysitting teachers for a snow day won't have even more to gripe about.

I think they should make the decision at a reasonable time, some parents do have a job to go to. They act like it is just awful if they have to make up a school day for snow, well then don't give them so many teacher work days or every little holiday off.

Every little holiday off? Let's see...we work on President's Day. We work on Memorial Day. We work on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Yeah, we had Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day off...but so do many, many others.

Most of the teachers are parents also and I am sure they would like to know in advance when Buncombe County schools are closed. Why shouldn't they have days off when the schools are closed, you would complain if they went to work and didn't have any of your little darlings to teach and got paid for doing nothing? All state workers get these holidays off so why not teachers, I wouldn't be a teacher because most kids aren't taught any manners by their parents and give the teachers a hard time. Teachers are underpaid and should make twice as much as they do, it is a hard job trying to teach kids who have no respect for the teachers, parents or themselves.
