1 Thank God for the US Coast Guard and those who serve and who are willing to risk all or another seafarer. |

1 Considering I was once in the CG, I think I know what I'm talking about. The CG pays for the tow. Who pays the CG? Oh that's right, you and I do. A 87' CPB costs roughly $3,000 an hour to run. 113 miles offshore and they are probably towing at about 3-4 knots because of the sea state. About a 35 hour tow, you wanna do the math or should I? When the helo took those that wanted to be out of danger, their obligation to that vessel stopped. They want to save the boat, fine, but we're outta here. I'm glad that those cutters manned by a crew (of which we pay too) can put their lives on the line so they can save their precious boat. Here's an idea, something that all prudent marines already know: check the forecasted weather. In this case this weather was predicted several days ahead of time. Even someone moderately retarded could have said jeez, maybe we shouldn't be offshore at a time like this. I stand by my original statement. The people that stayed are idiots. The CG are bigger idiots for taking the bait and going to fetch these morons. |

I hope those dumbasses learn their lesson out in sea. STAY THE HELL HOME!!!! What were they thinking on how bad that storm was? Hasn't anyone forgotten the Halloween Storm of 1993?

Thank you Dee Dee! AMEN sister! I am a "Coastie Girl". My Fiancee was the flight mech on this very flight and hoisted the two off the boat. They flew into the storm 3 times for this rescue. We ALL knew of this storm and were told to "batten the hatches" on LAND. Who decided that my future husband should have to rescue people who chose to venture out in a storm. He did choose to join the CG and loves what he does for WORTHY people. These people CHOSE to do this in the worst conditions...On the other hand, the two who called to be rescued WERE the smarter ones. They left the danger before the captain could kill them. Most of all, PLEASE do your homework BEFORE thinking you are invincible! MY LIFE could be affected from your idiocracy! If you don't think you can be hurt, he can die trying to save you! Let it at least be in calm weather! Enjoy the water! Enjoy your boat! KNOW WHAT YOURE DOING AND WHO IT CAN EFFECT!
