How sad! Behind the Colour, there is a life as the store-keeper possess. Me Lord.

I can't believe people still think this way. I lived in Rocky Ford for 10 years and I'm so glad that I found my way out of there. Its a broken down little town where everyone knows your business and everyone knows eachother. There aren't any jobs, there's no where to go, there's nothing to do.... its pretty much the most boring place on earth. If you want to have a good life, be free of judgment from people who shouldn't be judging, and enjoy that small amount of time we have on Earth, DO NOT move to Rocky Ford.

I should clarify the statement that I made. When I lived in RF, it was all good... I had my friends and family close by. It was all I knew. I thought the judging and was just the way it was supposed to be. When I moved to Cali and saw the diversity and different way of living, I realized that it shouldn't be the way it normally is in Rocky Ford. There are no "cool kids" here... everyone is different and no matter how strange you are, there's always someone stranger than you. RF is a nice place to retire and not have to worry about anything... but I would never move back there... there's nothing there for me or anyone of my age that wants to do something with their lives. I don't recommend it, but if that's all you have and the only place you can be, then find a way to make the best of it.

As many people say they use to live in Rocky. I was no different. I lived there for about 21 years and like everyone else said there is nothing there, no jobs nothing. I moved from there aout 22 years ago and come back just to visit my family who still leves there. Back in the day Rocky was not a bad place to live, just nothing to do. I will one day move back there and retire I guess, cause that is where my whole family lives. But until then I am gonna stay right where im at

I grew up in RF and it was a good place to grow up when you're a kid. As a teenager, you had to seek out things to do. There was school sports and summer ball. I was also a Koshare in LJ. Swimming at the pool and I had always had a summer job. Going to Pueblo to the mall and McDonalds was a big deal. Once I got my DL I hung out in La Junta, it was bigger and I had made many friends there. After HS I left feeling that if I had stayed that my options were limited. I'm in CA now with a good job and a great family. When I go back I still like to look around at some of the changes but spend much of my time in LJ. I would consider RF when I retire because the taxes are low, RE is affordable and my pension check would go farther. I do miss the quiet.

Hi...well, after reading the few post, I wanted to share my life, thoughts and the way it was for me. Being a hispanic gay man,(43 now)...life in RF was very difficult as a gay pre-teen to say the least. From the usual A$$ kicking received and the constant fear from everyone, I was so glad to get out of RF when I was 17 years old. It was so bad for "me" I had no alternatives but to quit high school for fear of more beatings - I was always afraid of getting my A$$ beaten up from various guys who hated me...they never knew me as a person and hated the life I lived. Today at the ripe age of 43, I would like to sit down and talk to a specific person,(initials) RR...they used to call him "Glow-worm" suppose because he looked "white" or Wetto being hispanic himself...I would like to ask him what the heck was he trying to prove by kicking me when I was down, punching my face, coming out with two black eyes, a fat and split lip, while the other two guys help in and started kicking me too...what terrible people they were then. I have done something with my life despite of the down-falls, I have a great income, house and my health is best of all. I am sad that these boys ruined my teenaged life and that I had to quit HS because of them. I hope RF can be a good and safe environment for the next gay teen living with the same treatment as I did.

I'm sorry that you had to go through that, but I'm not surprised at all. Going to high school in RF was a challenge if you weren't part of the popular crowd. I don't recall anyone coming out while I went to school there, and for their sake, I'm glad they never did. Two of my best friends are gay and I would never wish them a life in Rocky Ford. It's extremely sad that people can still be so close-minded. I have a cousin that is in her 40's, gay, and has been alone her whole life because of how difficult it would be for her to come out living in Rocky Ford. Since her parents grew up there and share the same beliefs as most of the pople there so she has never tried to find someone to spend her life with. I want to tell her to come to California and finally live a happy life, but I'm sure she would never leave that place. I'm glad you've found a good life and that things are going well for you now.

Hi, Thank you for your response and acknowledgment of my life and posting, I was truly scared one again to post. I was not in the popular crowd, nor did we care to be...we were a small group of misfits and how appropriate it is this time of year!
My close circle of friends (5) I miss the most are John Heil and Michele Chaparro...as they have passed on, they left an indelible impression on my life and love them so much.
I do wish to know this person of who you talk about...I am not sure how to articulate my email with out having "hate" mail come to me...but you know what, F..U..C..K.. it...write me direct to"
x.clr8@hotmail . c o m I would love to reconnect with my fellow Melonaire...hahaha

Daily Horoscope for January 1

Sagittarius

Happy New Year, Saggitarius! Despite the headache, your motivation level is high today, setting a trend for the rest of the year. You'll be surrounded by relatives and friends all year and will work passionately to help them, as you do. Things go smoothly today, and you're absorbed with the duties of new year. Be careful that you don't neglect your own health, though. You can't help others if you're run down.
