The town is part of the government's Federal Witness Protection Program, as such, you would discover strange things happening to your piracy. The city hates business owners and does not encourage new dynamic business adventures, the business sector is controlled by old money with old ideas (the city is not allowed to ‘Seattlizes’ and grow, the judicial system is controlled continuously in a state of ‘conflict of interests’ by Gonzaga Law School Graduates everybody knows everybody else in the courts and they all work against you if you try to change things in Spokane, oh, you better never talk bad about Gonzaga. The police here are racist, the housing market is ballooning because the rush from California, the town is a ‘who-you-know’ to get a job type of place to the 5th power, you don’t know no one you don’t get a job. The nightlife is a joke, there are no radio stations allowed in Spokane unless you like junk, the city hates diversity. If you are an inner-racial couple you are not welcome and if you are a minority couple you are not welcome. Everybody is in everybody’s business so you must stay in your house with the doors locked!
But other than these facts Spokane is quiet…the city does not grow, so if your family comes, that means someone else and their family MUST leave!
,..don't say someone didn't warn you!
TimLohn is leaving so I guess there is room at theINN for someone else to move in.

Look, there is good and bad no matter where you choose to live. Yes there is racism; whites against blacks, blacks against whites... Unfortunately you'll find that most anywhere. What some of the biggest complainers on here fail to remember is that the freeway goes both ways and if they're really that miserable, and not just looking for a reason to bitch and moan, they can always take I-90 out of here. Good Luck.

Statements obviously written by a white person...sad and bitter? why? Because he acknowledges the truth? Those of you born into "white privilege" have no way of understanding or even empathizing what minorities go through on a day to day basis. Do these things make you bitter? Sad? Yes, especially when looking at our children of color, whether it be red, brown, black, etc....Yes, we have a black president - until a drunk white cop runs into him in some dark alley. Or a brightly lit city street!

He doesn't need to go on camera and get a bunch of attention because his lawyer isn't going to be standing by with cue cards!! Oh and he is scared of anti-gay people in the media!!

Yes, unfortunately racism is a major issue in this world whether it be whites against blacks or blacks against whites. I don't believe it's fair or right to lump all blacks together under the same umbrella any more than it's fair or right to lump all whites together. There's good and bad in all races. Peace

Your friend Jay, as an off-duty cop, ran down and shot an unarmed man who posed no threat to himself. While drunk. Spraying a neighborhood with bullets. And the police department destroyed evidence and committed perjury to cover up his crimes. Then the police chief arrogantly gave the finger to the entire city.

After the police department misdeeds of the past few years, and after the Jim West debacle, this is more than the last straw. This is a total disaster.

Im sure as a conspiracy theorist, Disgusted, that all cop involved incidences, that you feel is guilty, someone or maybe the whole dept and judges and the jury is all interconnected and purgered themselves cause it just cant be any other way than guilty all the time. It just cant, in your mind, be that Shonto actually tried to steel a truck. It just isnt true that Pete was drunk off his azz, cant remember stuff, but then claims to remember certain things. JUst amazing. You just cant be happy that Shonto wasnt found guilty.

I for one would not live in Spokane until something gets done about the gun happy policemen who are above the law and know it. They really need a police force that screens the people and requires them to be mentally sharp as well as in good physical shape. They need to know the difference between when and not to use lethal force. They are ruthless and don't follow their own policies and essentially get away with murder. A poor fellow, Otto Zehm was tasered, beat, suffocated when the police answered a false police call. They got away with it by saying his pop bottle was a gun. They arrested and handcuffed two twin girls, age ten who were Native American, and the atrocities go on and on. One Native American got shot in the back of the head by an off-duty, drunk policeman who claimed he was scared of him while the police officeer was the one who was chasing the victim. The jury only listened to the policeman's testemony and the judge was against the Native American. His orders to the jury reflected extreme prejudice or bias. Good luck to riding your bycycle and hope you aren't carrying a bottle of pop. I guess you'r ok as long as you aren't Native Ameican. There was a peaceful demonstration against police brutality that ended in police brutality. They weren't even Native American. It really isn't safe in Spokane because the police can get put on paid leave for two years while any complaint against them gets investigated. Then they collect on that accrued leave when they somehow win their trials with a jury of their peers. Incentive to kill and get paid for it, join the Spokane police force.

I didn't lump anyone together, nor did I make it a "black and white" thing. I mentioned all people of color, and at the risk of sounding cliche, some of my best friends are white people!! My point is , what do you tell your child of these things. I'm Native American, grew up with Shonto like brother and sister. I was privy to information the jury wasn't. A lot of us were, anyone who reads the paper for that matter. The "evidence"...a witness to Shonto's supposed admission, the 911 operator, didn't come forward during Shonto's trial. And this is a cop we are talking about, he knows the importance of witness. My brother told me that the prosecutor, for both he and Jay was joking with him about wishing he had him as a witness during his trial. The witness was a joke, as was Jay's defense...self defense against a man running away? A witness for the prosecution informed the jury and court the first thing an officer does after a shooting is come up with a self defense case!! He called his lawyer and union represenative!! An innocent man would have called the authorities, especially a cop!! The fact that people are still putting down my brother and his brother "resident thug" a Marine and presently enlisted Natl. guardsman, and his "dumbass of a mother", says quite a bit about the city of Spokane. Although I'm sure there are some good people there. God has not destroyed that city yet.

I feel real sorry for Kate and have her on a prayer line. She is obviously a very troubled person trying to stand up for the only friend she has. She is smart and needs to challenge her intelligence elsewhere. She sure is adamant about running down Pete. I think she knows the truth but is acting psychologically like a person obsessed with living a lie, believing a lie, and hoping that by repetition the lie will be believed by at least one other person. In that respect she will have accomplished something of utmost importance that will raise her psych to the level of acceptance she seeks. It is unfortunate that she just doesn't fit in wherever she goes either because of her looks or her attitude. She sounds like she is full of hatred and it stems from a childhood of dissappointment. Maybe she was adopted or a foster child. Alas, alack would it be nobler in mind to take the wings of misfortune and turn a deaf ear on yon troubled child. Oh mighty God, take this troubled Kate into your folds and help her...She needs Your love, She needs to be free of the evil that is inside of her. She needs guidance and understanding to know she is accepted in this world as a human being regardless of the color of her skin. Amen

Wouldn't it be nice if all the people were like a beautiful bouquet of flowers and realized that with that bouquet came all the colors of the world. All like one, and we would have world peace. The horses came running in a herd, there were black, white, pinto, palamino, quarterhorses, bay...They all got along and all they wanted was to eat some hay and get a bite of oats. They didn't bicker, the just nickered, an the color of their hides did not matter because they were all sacred...They were horses and they were needed by the people. I think I would live in Spokane if there were more horses and people who thought like horses and who believed in God. They would know God is Love and all men and horses are created equal.

No need to feel sorry for me at all, I certainly do not need any witchcraft prayers prayed over me. Im doing just fine thank you. Im glad you feel you know me so well. Got any thing else to add besides your wit and humor? You are right about one thing. God hasnt and He wont. Things are going to get tough here, yes but it will never be destroyed, only those things that are corrupt in heart will die.

That is right Kate and so end the hate. It sounds like you know how to rehabilitate. You know you seem to know quite a bit about evil. Witchcraft? What is it that you know...You are about ready to turn around and do right I hope and pray. You do have a conscience and that is good to know. God loves you and so does a lot of other good people that you may not have even met yet. Hang in there and do right. Stay away from evil and turn your will over to love-to God. Speak not of withchcraft. What is it that you are planning, or that you know is going to be tough? It sounds a bit sinister and scary. Like a threat. Do good not evil. Good far outweighs the force of evil. Turn away from the bad before its too late and it destroys you. I repeat your words, "only those things that are corrupt in heart will die." Your mission is to respect yourself. You don't need to prove anything to anyone because you are a child of God like we all are and it does not matter the color of a persons skin. You are finally starting to sound good, and my prayer for you is that you always feel good about yourself and respect yourself.

The statement I made was in reference to Sodom and Gamorrah, the city destroyed by God because sin was rampant. And just to make sure you can understand Kate I'll use smaller words next time, but in case you didn't understand what I wrote, I'll try again..."GOD has not destroyed that city yet" How does that sound like the threat is mine? Did you miss the first word in the sentence?

I was born and grew up in Spokane. Graduated from EWU. The moved abroad to Europe for 15 years. I've been in Seattle the last 10 years ... and I must say, as much as I criticised Spokane, I think I miss it these days. Frankly, I'm tired of the rain here in Seattle, and even more tired of the snotty attitudes here. Seems like so many in Seattle these days are transplants from the East Coast and are trying to make it into a NY/Boston type of town. I don't like. Thought I'd get used to it, but I'm not.

Anyway, just wondering if anybody currently living in Spokane thinks it is truly a good place to live? Not just exciting, not highly paid, but a good place: reasonably priced housing, people are polite (more so than Seattle, I"m sure) and, is it a good place for dogs? Not kidding! I have dogs and one thing that I do enjoy here in Seattle is the dog-friendly atmosphere, businesses, dog parks, etc.

How many dogs can you legally own?

Sorry so long winded. Maybe I'm feeling homesick?

Is the Onion Bar & Grill still there?!?

Thanks

If he thinks things are bad there in Spokane, maybe he should try living in the sex offender/pedophile capital of the world. Yep ,you guessed it, here in nastyville. I'm getting out of this town right away
