Story says: "The sheriff's office says the suspect pulled a pistol and shot the dog. The handler then shot the suspect who died early Wednesday at a hospital." I really hope this story isn't saying that the police shot the suspect just because he shot the dog. If this is the case then the officer is guilty of a crime.

Holly crap...someone questions whether it was ok to shoot the suspect ? You people are nut cases and should be confined to a mental institution. The suspect was ARMED WITH A HAND GUN !!! Was the cops supposed to wait to see if the suspect shot at them after shooting at the dog ? You people are pathetic....no wonder the country is so messed up. You probably voted for Oblama too.

Save the taxpayers lots of money in trials and such. And yes the guy deserved it; the weapon is also aimed at the officer when aimed at the dog. Self defense is justified.

I'm so sorry to hear the dog was wounded. Hopefully the dog will recover fully and return to his job of tracking and locating crimnal violent sheet birds! Oh! What about the dead sheet bird? Well, Um,... may he rest in hell!

In Washington state, a police dog is a commissioned officer. Not only did the officer have the right to shoot the guy, it was his duty as an officer.

The Dog probably prevented the officer from getting shot first. Hopefully the dog will recover fully. As for the criminal that was killed, good riddance!

Actually if you are Pete Shonto or NoLove or any other crack pot, they would probly say that the suspect was murdered and the dog deserved it .These two are sickos. They need mental help. Hopefully they do get it.

"In Washington state, a police dog is a commissioned officer." That's ok. In Connecticut, we let them serve in the US Senate.

Except for the Obama part, I agree with you. An offcer of the law WILL shoot if someone is holding a gun and he/she fears for their life. In this case, the bad guy had already shot off the gun, killing the dog in the process. Like Jim says, is the officer supposed to just stand there, waiting to see "what happens next"? I think not....

Whatever, I bet the cop shot the suspect and shot his own dog accidentally. I wonder if they'll run any ballistics testing. Probably not.
