Utica area unaffected as drought warning issued for Western New York
State environmental officials have issued a drought warning for a large portion of western New York - but the greater Utica area is *not* under this warning. The State Department of Environmental Conservation's drought warning covers the following counties: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Erie, Genesee, Jefferson, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Seneca, Schuyler, Steuben, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates.

It's a shame Shootica isn't included, but come on: Would anything REALLY be lost if these blighted forgotten places burned to the ground for lack of rain? Of course not.
