Missing girl case looked outward, turns to home

At first, the case of missing Brooke Bennett appeared to be a story of an abduction by an Internet predator who befriended the 12-year-old Braintree girl through her MySpace page.

This man had previous records of these offenses and was even let off the hook once. Why aren't these predators being watched more closely ? A beautiful girls life is lost and others destroyed from this monster.
Its time to look more closely at the crimes of these men and stop more killings of young lives. A community should be built to house them once convicted and released where they can be watched over more carefully. I do not want to hear about their rights, they did not care about the rights of the children they destroyed or killed or left scared for life. I am sorry to sound so harsh but look over these cases , they serve their time and the government feels their rehabilitated, yet most of the deaths of these young girls come from previous pedophiles who did their time. This madness needs to end and a harsher reality needs to be put in place, such as a community where they live among themselves, because society and our children can no longer risk their so called rehabilitation, and lets not leave out No more internet access as well.

where was the guys wife ??

how come nobody noticed him hanging around with kids like Juvenile 1 and her boy friend Juvenile 2

what kind of sicko would be married to the guy ? what kind of sicko would let their child get near their sisters sicko husband ?

I suspect there is something wrong with the whole family and maybe it's time to start taking more kids away from divorced woman and single mothers if there is any question if they are dysfunctional basket cases who can't take care of their kids.

Just applying for state aid or school lunches should also put people under the watch of the department of families or whatever it's called.

If there is any sign at all of dysfunction in a family take the kids away and make their parents pay child support to the state or throw them in jail.

Divorced, unmarried, on state aid, any of it should mean a case worker is assigned to the family and the parent or parents are drug tested.
Any sign of being idiots should mean they loose their kids and pay the state child support or go to jail.

Behavior problems in school should also be just cause to look into these screwed up families and they should fear their kids will be taken away if they can't raise them to respect teachers and other children.

This is not an isolated case! The death of the young girl may be, but one in four children are sexually assaulted in this country every day, and most by people they know. The parents of Brooke should be charged with aiding in the death. To know that you are sending your child out with a convicted rapist and be surprised that something then happens is not ignorance, it is criminal! I am very sorry for this loss. I am mostly appalled that the killer was released early, every study shows that this type of criminal behavior will happen again and again. Sex offenders themselves state that they know that they will commit these acts if released. I urge people to keep vigilant when we think of our childrens safety, all children.

What kind of idiot are you? Just because parents apply for food stamps or get free lunches does NOT make them a bad parent. In case you haven't noticed VT doesn't have the best in ways of good paying jobs and some of these parents work two jobs to support their kids.
You are obliviously in need of mental health care yourself and I do hope you do not have children, with the logic you have shown here. Your actions alone suggest you are unstable and should not be a caretaker of a child.
Just to inform you

joe, just because a woman gets divorced or is a single parent does not mean they are unfit to be a parent. what if the other parent died, like mine. my mom was a single mother for almost all of my childhood, and she did a damn good job of raising two children on her own. so do not discriminate against caring mothers, who may or may not need state assistance or free lunches.

now on to poor brooke. i DO believe that the parents should be charged also because who in their right mind would send their child with a multiple convicted sex offender. i know i wouldnt have. not only that but they say that they did not talk to her about that kind of things because of her age, well WAKE UP. kids are having sex younger and younger these days and there are alot of sick people in the world. my 11 year old sister is informed about these kinds of things. you WANT the child to know that if there is something wrong being done to come out and tell someone. thats why Juvenile 1 didnt come out until now. it took Brooke probably screaming that this isnt right to wake up her senses and get some help. he started raping her so young that she probably thought that it was normal for older men to do things like that. kids only know what they are taught or what they see and hear. so teach your kids to be cautious and inform someone if they think something might not be right.

does any of it MEAN people are bad parents, NO but if there is a pattern of dysfunction in certain types of families, an intelligent person would check to make sure everything is ok.

Just because a cop sits clocking people with radar doesn't MEAN everyone is a speeder.

If you people could think a little before having a hysterical meltdown society might improve some.

if there is a pattern in low inocme and or broken homes it would make logical sense to do some checking on the kids involved in situations like that to make sure they are ok.

People dragged the government into their lives by having kids they can't afford or marrying idiots and divorcing them or having children out of wedlock so it was their choice to volunteer to more scutiny by child welfare type people from the government.

Checking up on them after something happens didn't do the kid in this case any good.

what if there is no problem, the case worker will fill out a report and might come back in a year or two for a second check and cross somebody off the list as not a problem.

using you peoples hysterical logic we shouldn't have people inspecting food plants & restuarants or trucks or anything else, just come after people are dead and see what caused it and wait for the next victim to turn up dead because you people are emotional basket cases totally incapable of having anything close to a deep thought.

Define "broken home", Joe. You are descriminating against families based on your own ignorance. You talk about a "pattern" but provide no research, no statistics. Do your homework before posting such outrageous comments.

I agree with most of the posters here and especially the part about her parents bearing some responsibility over her death. As I stated here before, her mother KNEW this POS was a CSO ,and still let her daughter near him. I have made up my mind that these people are not very bright, possibly very ignorant, but still a shimmer of clarity should have occurred that her children and for sure Brooke saw this man often, they had to have known what he had been charged and convicted for in the past, and Mama also married that loser Gagnon. I am positive that she is one of those women that can't stand to be alone, will take any ratbag, loser that comes down the pike, and also if she was receiving state aid, he was probably living off benefits that are supposed to be for her children, he probably controlled her every move, that check comes in, he gets his mitts on it first, possibly he assaulted her and some women actually think because he beats on them, that means he loves her!!! Sheer conjecture on my part, but I have seen scum like Gagnon before and women just like her. But the bottom line, thanks to her inability to be a fit parent, a beautiful 12 year old girl is dead, and no one can change that. I realize that for some parents, they both have to work so family time is limited, but with today also comes cell phones whereas you can keep track of your kids and their movements, hell, when I was a kid I knew to come home when the street lights came on. Granted, there were perverts back then and my parents gave us kids the stranger danger talk and we heeded it, but you did not hear about it as much as today and I knew the minute the internet was invented, perverts and other sick puppies would find a way to exploit people and especially children. But here again, I blame the system too for letting these POS walk, get probation, or little time for the offense of taking away a child's innocence and lives, and the guy who was hungry and stole some food from Hannaford's time behind bars, and then when he is released he is watched like a hawk, possibly he goes on FSU, but the babyraper is just supposed to report once a month. If society is lucky, P&P makes a home visit to the perverts once every couple of months! And in this case Uncle Fester was not even on a radar screen!!! If this is not injustice I don't know what is!!! I maintain that all states have to build secure facilities for all sex offenders except for maybe the guy who is 19 and has a 15 year old girlfriend and the sex is consensual, and if it is proven that he is not a true sex offender in the sense of what a true one is, then he should not even be on a SO registry, he made a mistake and so did his raging hormones. The law makers whine about the cost of such facilities, well what price can you put on safety?? I want safe, happy children who can freely play in their yards, playgrounds, schoolyards, walking down the street not a care in the world like I did as a kid. and the parents don't have to sit with a shotgun in their hands, if this keeps up, besides kids carrying cell phones, they also have in their backpacks be carrying a Taser or a gun!!!

is that like describe porn, as a judge said it's hard to describe but he knows it when he see's it.

I had two neighbors, both so called single mothers, a 10 year old in the neighborhood could figure out which one was the dysfunctional parent, thankfully the sister of the idiot went to court and got legal custody of the kids and took them into her home.

The woman was a very nice college educated christian and a basket case who couldn't take care of her children. State had her in a nice middle class suburb under section 8 housing assistance and her sister had to go to court and take the kids away from the woman, no drug problem or lunitic boyfriends around.

Nothing discriminating about it, show a sign of dysfunction and get checked on, if somebody makes a poor choice in mates it's questionable if they are stable responsable people.

Popping out babies without the financial means to support them is a sign of dysfunction and people should be checked on to see what their malfunction is.

don't matter to me, I'll just move into a 55 an older community in a few years and get away from the crap and you can try to raise your kids who are running around with kids that are let run wild by idiot parents and do battle with them that they can't do X while other kids are allowed to do anything because their so called parents don't care.

I truly believe this little girl might still be alive if society would do the right thing and EXTERMINATE sex offenders. Especially ones that have committed crimes against our children. We spend millions of taxpayer dollars trying to rehabillitate worthless scum every year when we should be spending a few bucks on bullets to insert into the heads of these maggots and trash bags to throw them in afterwards. It is very sad how our government has harsher penalties for drug dealers than it does for child rapists. This horrible crime would have never happened if this scrawny little puke uncle of hers would have been at the bottom of a landfill like he should have been after raping a child the first time. We allow these predators to live in our society and then act surprised when they harm our children. The answer is CLEAR! When your home has cockroaches you exterminate them. Why? Because they don't belong there! Same goes with these human cockroaches! They must be exterminated!!

When i watched the video of this girls sister crying it made me cry. This little girl will be missed by so many. And I am sure NOBODY would have shed a single tear over the death of her uncle and stepfather if they would have been exterminated before this ever happened. I pray nothing like this ever happens to my little girl because I would spend the rest of my life behind bars for becomming an exterminator!!!
