I would assume that Dick Sears and the Judiciary committee will be looking at what happened in the Jaques release, but having Sears invesitgate anything Vermont's corrections department does is equal to having the fox guard the hen house. Sears does so much back slapping and high fiving with corrections boss Rob Hofmann anymore that his decison making process for Vermonters is probably clouded beyond hope. Dick used to be effective but I fear he is now too entrenched with the powers that be to make rational decisions.

How smart is that lets see where we went wrong before we change the law??? Obviously they don't read the same paper I do because everyday a repeat sexoffender has offended again. That tells me that the program they have in place now has problems starting with page 1. What has to happen before they step in and correct a program that has not worked for years? Do other innocent children need to die? Or do we need to wait until someone of importance has a loved one that is violated? No one just wakes up and decides to sexually abuse a child that day. Most likely they have been doing it for some time they just have not been caught. Our children are the future and we need to protect them from day one. They are precious gifts from god and we need to teach them TRUST NO ONE and how to look out for each other because it seems our elected officials need to make committees and have luncheons and dinner parties and reevaluate where they screwed up before they admit that the laws they have aren't worth the paper they are written on.

I don't think teaching children to TRUST NO ONE is the answer. I think parents should become more involved in their children's lives and not let them run the streets all hours of the night doing whatever they please. I grew up in Randolph and if my parents didn't know were I was every minute, then they would get up and go look for me. Whatever happened to cerfews and checking up on your kids from time to time. By no means am I saying that Brooke's parents didn't do this but I think that if it is instilled in children that Mom and dad are watching and we put the fear of god back in our young people like I had growing up, I don't think things like this would happen as often. My God our kids are dying! When are people going to wake up and do somthing about it. Stop depending on the government, people, grow a pair and do it yourself!

Most of these children are with someone their parents trusted daycare providers, clergy, aunts grandparents, teachers like Brooke who was with her uncle. She was deceived into thinking she was going to a party. He would not have been out of jail had the system done what it should do with sex offenders THROW AWAY THE KEY yes we need to keep a tab on our kids but they have the right to live safely.
