Rude Residents of Chelsea

I wanted to express my disgust with the rude people that live in Chelsea. I moved here over 3 years ago and I do not have anything positive to say about the residents of Chelsea. My husband and I already have plans to move, simply becuase of the unwelcoming nature of this city and our neighbors.

I am sorry to hear that, I grew up in chelsea in the early 80's, it was a family/school oriented community. I am proud to this day to say I lived there. I enjoyed it. we had Thompsons Pizza, the bowling alley and where the Purple Rose theatre is located use to be our " arcade game room", UTROGS!

I grew up in Chelsea in the early 80's as well. I still frequent there, and it has changed a lot. The people are snooty and rude. I miss the old days of Utrogs and Thompsons!

I have lived near Chelsea for 57 years and dealt with the folks there all that time. The town has changed over the years, but the people haven't. In my experience they are friendly, easy to get along with and honest and concerned people to do business with. I can only wonder where the person who found 'rude' people here met them. In all of my years here I have met NONE! Maybe the writer should take another look at how she and her husband have treated the nice people of Chelsea...

I too am from Chelsea and have to say that in all the years I lives there I made life long friends and so has all of my family. I can count on the local services to be there to help when I need them and know most of them by there first names afterall I grew up with their kids. Chelsea is a beautiful town rich in love and a great sense of community and helping out neighbors. It's too bad that you are moving without getting to know the real Chelsea and the wonderful community, but then again maybe you just didn't fit in because you are so judgemental.

hey bulldog great way to prove the point that chelsea people are rude, quote but then again maybe you just didn't fit in because you are so judgemental. end quote. Nice people don't say things like that, and YES Chelsea people are RUDE. I've lived all over this state and by far that is the only town i refuse to go to because of the way the people act. Not all people there are rude, but the ones that are need to move to Chicago if they want to live there. (p.s. Chicago is full of nice people, but far away)

I have lived in chelsea all my life, am 5th. generation. This town is the most "clicky" town I have ever known. If you are "someone of name" or are rich, you are "IN", other wise you are only good for paying your taxes, etc. It is a very hard place for kids that are just of average or low income parents. It is a snobby town for the rich and always has been!!!!!!!!!

You should try living in this town not just visiting, you would have a far different out look, unless you are rich or are a "somebody".

I have found the peple from Hell to be very friendly over the many years in this area but Chelsea, where I live, is a :hell hole" of a town as far as friendly-ness goes. We are getting ready to retire and can hardly wait to get out of here. I have traveled all over this USA and found a lot of nicer places than chelsea, the people of chelsea think they are GODS.

Wow, it's been a long time sence I heard "UTROGS" mentioned. Now that was a real arcade, with pinball machines and quarters painted with red dots on them. Also the music was the best, a little Foghat and alot of Led Zepplin to jam to.I really miss Chelsea, one of the best towns I have ever lived in!

I grew up in chelsea never was an A student but I enjoyed it very much. The people were nice when I lived there and still have plenty of friends from school even after almost 10 years of graduating. You get respect when you give respect. The people reminded me of cheers I swear back in the day everyone knew your name and your friends parents went to school with your parents. I have a lot of frineds and family that still live there. I do not agree with how much it is growing I miss the small town it used to be. Thompsons pizzaria was the best, I graduated from there and I gave birth to one of my children there. My only suggestionis to get involoved with the community in some sort of way do not be afraid of saying hello and just remember "you get out what you put in"

I grew up in Chelsea, lived there 50 years, as did my husband's family. The big city people started moving in(Ann Arbor and beyond) back in the 70s and 80s. After that, it definatley changed. It's just a sub of Ann Arbor now. Lots of snobs. I moved, and lots of relatives moved because it was so different.

My Dad's family is from Chelsea. I spent a lot of time here as a child and when my parents moved back - I followed.

I understand that 'outsider' feeling. But it's not as bad as it was in the past. I used to laugh when people would ask if someone was FROM Chelsea and even if the person had spent the past 20 years living here - they weren't really considered FROM the village (city now).

Chelsea have bcome very diverse - a lot of different people here with a lot of different views. The schools are great and for the most part - the people are too. You just have to find a group that shares the same ideals and views that you do. Don't pay so much attention to the rude people - there are rude people everywhere, in every city. I tend to think that the rude snobby people NOT liking me is sort of an honor - it means I'm NOT one of them!

Hope you don't move - we can start a non-rude and snobby club. We can meet every Saturday up in town and point out the rudies and make jokes at their expense! Personally I love the ones who buy land right next to a farm - build a house and then complain that they can smell cow crap! Priceless! For all their brains and money they sure don't have a dime's worth of common sense!

See how fun rude people can be???

I live on the outskirts of chelsea and my parents are involved in the community and our daughter goes to school there, but yes it's a snooty little town with it's "gourmet" market, shops that no one can afford to shop in, it just breeds that kind of people. Usually those are the ones who are not from the area and wanted to move to the "country". The life long residents of Chelsea are what make the town. Get a lifted vehicle and drive over their mercedes!
