The Chelsea City

I just moved from NYC to Chelsea, MA on August 1, 2010. I live in the Pratville area of Chelsea. I am a big independent coffee house person being from the village.
I have to say after coming to this coffee house, The Chelsea City. I thought I was walking into a freak show. I was met by a ghostly looking man who was wearing dirty cloths. Did not greet me all he said was "yes". I told him I just moved here and was looking for a great independent coffee house.
I told him that I used to go to about 10 of them in my area in NY. He then started to ask what I wanted. Then when I told him he went to bend over to get a cup and this is gross, his shirt went up and all I could do not to laugh or get sick was see his butt crack.
I asked for the bathroom and then when I came out there was another guy behind the counter too. I said hello to him and he just glared at me the entire time I was in there.
Then the tall guy put my coffee on the counter and then sneezed without covering his nose and said "3.75". I just glared at him and he said louder "3.75".
I asked him why he did not cover his mouth when he sneezed. He started yelling and I mean YELLING at me. Called me unfit (I am wearing a tie, shirt and slacks) and he is dressed like a hillbilly. The two of them just glared at me like some freak horror movie. I just paid him and took my coffee and left.
I was determined to find out who owned this place and report these two weirdos.
I went in the next day and again was met by the gauntly looking tall man. I asked who his boss was and he said "I am the owner". He acted like someone who thought he was a fortune 500 person. There were 2 other guys at a small table near the window. They were business like but they were so demanding of this guy and when I placed an order for a coffee he ignored me and tended to the other guys who were talking to this guy about other customers and how they looked and acted.
It was a clan of gossiping women telling stories back and forth. The man pulled up a chair with the other customers ignored me and I asked for my coffee and he said "oh are you still interested?"
I said never mind and as I was walking out that other guy I saw before was walking in covered in dirt and looked like he did not take a bath in years. He went behind the counter and just poured himself some coffee and again his pants looked like they were falling down.
I left. As I left the two of them just kept glaring at me like they were already dead and could see right through me.
Creepy place. I went home called my GF back home and told her. She is moving in with me next month and I told her that we are never ever going back there.
Sometimes I will walk by and all I see is them staring at people.

Please. Drama central may I take your order?
I have lived in the building that owners of the coffee shop own for 6 years.
If you got yelled at it was probably for a good reason.
Go back to NYC. This coffee shop is only friendly as you make it out to be.
They have the best hot chocolate in the city and muffins.
End of today's story.

NYC - I hope you have made it to Market Basket cafe. An interesting place to get a cup of coffee and many good deals. Not a coffee house, but a good place to hang, nonetheless.
I'd try to get by Chuck at Chelsea and give it another chance. He can be grump, but the place has some appeal. There are some good folks hanging there. Maybe more of NYC will cause the less desirables to find the next DD.
