Whether the ballots are abused or not, there are many who want to vote but for one reason or another can't. I know I will be out of town and will be unable to vote in person. If Tim had his way, I would be denied my Consititional right to vote. There is only one way to properly handle this and it is to ensure that the person listed actually lives in Everett and the elected persons do not deliver the ballots to City Hall.

No need to do away with absentee ballots - however, most defintely they need more scrutiny when they are given out (positive ID of the person and that they reside in Everett would be a good start). Also, that the candidate does not return them to city hall. I feel there is too much abuse of the system in Everett.

Not a fan of Tim, or any of them for that matter. The point here is being missed. The cities listed in the globe article have a combined population of 382,000, Everett has 38,299 and more absentee ballots than those cities combined??? So 10 Everett voters to every one in the listed cities vote with absentee ballot. Don't even try to tell me that this is legitimate...or legal.

You people spend hours on here complaining about street sweeping and parades but you aren't appalled to the point of embarrassment that this goes on in such an open and obvious manner in this city?

You should be all be screaming bloody murder about this underhandedness, but no. Wait for something important to complain about like Christmas lights.

Stupid Sheeple.

I can understand the concerns here. It doesn't look right, but Tim should look to where the problem lies. It was with Sal D and his team, it was with Stat who learned how to maximize these votes from Wayne Matewsky before their fallen out. Stat has refined it to a whole new level. This is not Stat bashing, it's a fact. The numbers confirm it.

Everett is a disgustingly corrupt city.

Where is Chief Mazzie in all this.

The excuse that it's not his jurisdiction or someone has to make a complaint first just doesn't fly.

It's time he takes control of this and other issues or he steps down.

Just look at his message on the Police website to see if he is following through

Do you realize how stupid you sound? If anyone had lost to Tim, or anyone else for that matterÖ.. and THEY had OVER 700 absentee ballots (lets get real people) Sal/Stat would be all over this like white on rice. Are people really that insecure that they resort to this? Every single one of those absentee ballots is being called to the carpet to prove residency, and for the DA to get involved and assign someone to this is pretty serious. I donít think Salís was as bad as Statís. I still do not think it will change the outcome, but if there was fraud.. it will be proven and at least we will change this type of underhandedness for the future. It makes me sick.

I wouldn't worry too much about the DA. This is a matter that the FBI gets involved in. Check out their website

I was voting when someone working the polls was on the phone with the city clerk. He was telling the clerk that people had Somerville addresses and the clerk said it was an honor system to let them vote. NO NO NO. That is so wrong and I hope the clerk gets dragged into this because he let them get away with it. It's HIS fault too.

Why didn't John Hanlon man up and raise the absentee ballot issue. Sounds to me like he has Tim fighting his battles. Since Hanlon lost he should be the one driving the issue.

For your information he was at city hall with Tim Flaherty and an investigator from Gerry Leoneís office, so why would you say something like that? Itís funny the same person over and over uses any excuse to talk bad about the man and he did nothing wrong. As a matter of fact, he did everything right. He didnít cheat but instead of being angry at the cheaters you choose to trash talk him. What if that was you running and you lost because someone cheated? AND, you used $30,000.00 out of your own pocket?? Every single one of those absentee ballots will be checked and double checked for residency and brought to court for a decision.

Why would I say that? Because that's the way it's being reported by the press. No mention of Mr. Hanlon other than he lost. Am I really talking bad about him and tash talk? I don't think so, so stop exaggerating. If it was me who lost to cheaters after spending $30K of my own money I'd make sure I was the lead sled dog and not following Flaherty.

I think there is something rotten here just like you. I feel Mr. Hanlon needs to step it up and show some real leadership in this issue.

Especially since he's the former City Clerk and should know the process like the back of his hand.

EVERETT IS A MESS AT THIS POINT, EVERETT IS A 3.5 MILE, CITY, HOW MANY ABSENTEE'S ARE THERE, CITY CLERK NEEDS TO WAKE UP, NOT JUST B.S. EVERYBODY??????????
