What a bunch of nonsense ALL these posts are. NOT ONE OF YOU are talking about the issues and where each of them stand. This is what's wrong with Everett politics..just a friggin popularity contest. THIS is why this city and STATE is in such a mess. I'm sure I'll just get ganged up on for this comment. Have at it idiots.
You are absolutely correct. People should care more about issues and that IS what's wrong with this city. I'm not going to vote for cheaters and the scripted guy that the Senator probably got the questions in advance for. THOSE PEOPLE are what's wrong with this city. I'm voting for the unscripted I unorchestrated person that does not have to have a show of overkill by non Everett people. Voting for the one that has the heart and 100 percent into the job. Not the one looking for handouts and everyone else has to tell what to do!

I think what's delusional is if you believe any candidate would admit to having questions prior. Why don't we watch the debate on ECTV and figure it out ourselves. IMHO Mangan did appear scripted but that's MY opinion. Again, watch for yourself.
As for the sign holders, it was overkill and appeared to be orchestrated. We all know who the sign nut is. Was it deemed necessary to be all over the sidewalk, in the freeing cold while people are trying to get in.... but none actually came in to witness the debate?
Come on. I know appearances can be deceiving but give me a break.
First of all I said ask the other candidates if Mike had the questions or answers since they were sitting right there. Just because someone knows what they are talking about doesn't mean they were scripted. If that is the case then I guess all the candidates were scripted. As for the sign holders most of those people were his family and friends and a lot of them came in to watch the debate. Of course it is only overkill when another candidate besides the one you want does it!!!!

When a union chooses to support a candidate--in this case Mangan--the union organizes the show of support and contacts its members with time and place. I agree that sign holders should not make the entrance into a building difficult, but after all they are just people and tend to talk to each other and forget what they are doing. This night was so cold they were probably trying to generate extra heat. I'm not supporting Mangan, but sometimes this blog goes too far.

When a union supports a particular candidate he is bought and paid for!!! This Mangan guy isn't the guy to support. The d in democrat stands for dependency and that's why Massachusetts ranks 4th in the Country as a welfare state. a vote for Mangan is a vote for higher taxes, more fees, and less services. Come election time I'll probably be casting my vote for my dog because she is better than all the candidates combined.

You people are ridiculous. Brad stated his opinion and last time I checked that is his right. Why do people feel the need to jump on others the polictics and elected officials in Everett are as corrupt as the day is long. I agree watch and judge for yourself but get off your high horses and calm down already. My OPINION anyone who needs defending to this degree has something to hide. Thanks for eliminating that candidate from getting my vote!

It's funny that one candidate brings notes and everyone thinks he knows the questions. Why is everyone so cynical?? Can't he just be prepared? Isn't that what you want in a rep? And who cares who other elected officials are supporting? And the unions? It's their job to support a candidate and work for them.

In terms of knowing the questions, how many different kinds of questions could there be anyway? Isn't it kinda easy to figure out what the topics would be if you're running? The economy, casinos, taxes, education. Isn't that what everyone talks about????

Personally I thought all of them were boring. No one said anything interesting and they almost all agreed on everything. The old guy seemed a little nutty though. Who is that guy?

The nutty old guy is YOU! You either don't know Everett politics, or you are a Mangan/Carlo supporter.

I'm new to Everett and went b/c a friend asked me to. I'm leaning to the McGonagle guy but there were others that seemed ok. I don't really care who the mayor is I hardly know him and who he's supporting wouldn't change my mind. Was the old guy in the debate really the mayor once????

You are so obvious from all your posts about "the old guy" you don't do other candidates justice with your arrogance and being SO OBVIOUS.

I belong to the same union as Mr Mangan. He received their endorsement due to the fact that he told them, he supported the governors tax increases in transportation. This will mean fares will be going up and routes will be cut.

I attended the debate. Mr Mangan said at the debate he is against the governors tax increases in transportation.

He can't have it both ways and the union has been notified.

I absolutely believe this. Is this why ECTV has not aired the debate....after I was told it would start airing last Friday from them. This city is the biggest embarrassment with their evident censorship.

Didn't let them record when Peter cleaned his clock at the "immigrants forums" during the election.

I was at the debate. John Hanlon did an out standing job. He truly is the only candidate that is qualified to be a State Rep for Everett. He was very relaxed in front of the crowd and presented himself well. Joe seemed to speak down to people and appeared to be nervous. Wayne smelled of alcohol as usual. Cornelio didn't do too bad. If you guys are right and Mangan was tipped off, He didn't use the information that well. If the debate went so good why is City Hall withholding airing the debate. One can only wonder.

Hanlons age was apparent and even had the wrong date for the primary in his opening statement. Hes a nice person but I think its time for him to sit back and let the younger guys go for it.
