The city is trying to end pre-school in the city. People are rallying tonight at city hall at 7:00!! I'll be there-had enough of these ignorant politicians!! Let's have them take a pay cut instead of going after our kids!!!

Pre-school is FREE in Everett.....children from other cities are coming here RATHER than paying 1,600.00 A YEAR per child in their own communities.

Why do we accept any child into the city schools if they do not live here?

Only Everett residents are accepted. They ask for proof of residence.

Its been going on forever. You have an uncle aunt grandparent and give their address. People know and they don't care. I do because we pay for it and we have overcrowding. Think about it, if Everett is one of the few free pre-schools they all try and come here.

Perhaps the city could institute a nominal fee for pre-school program ... free is a bit much in today's economy and the city's financial situation. Anyone know how many children attend this free program city wide ? Is pre-school all day or a part time program ??

Agreed........should be sliding scale and the meeting was not for Lafayette but Adam's school. The school has been empty, this is new.

I think it should be free for 4 years old but I'm not so sure about 3 year olds. Isn't that a little too young for pre-school?

An expensive "baby sitting" service free to all residents in the surrounding communities. Paid for by the Everett taxpayers.

ITA with this, I do not think preschool is necessary for a 3 year old. I think the 4 year old program is wonderful to get them ready for full day kindergarten. I've had the option to send two of my kids when they were three, but I kept them home until they were four, I didn't see the point. Where it's only a few hours a day, it's not like it is helping parents to work, so why not just keep the three year olds home, let them be little, they have plenty of schooling ahead of them. They get plenty of social interaction at the park at that age, and the parent can be teaching them what they need to know at home.

Maybe people who have children should take care of them instead of pawning them off on glorified baby sitters!
But then again Everett taxpayers are loaded and have no problem footing the bill!

Do you know how many people lie to get into the free program and the high school? How many people are on the sports teams from EHS that do not live in Everett?

What kind of proof do they ask for? They probably send a letter to an uncle's house with their name on it. And that's what they use for proof.

You have to provide a bill, a rent receipt or a lease, or they want you to get a landlord letter from the city hall, or proof of home ownership, and also the childs immunization record.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
