When all this is settled the one thing that will always stick out is the absolute pathetic way Yoeman conducted himself. Why? He has shown his true colors - very immature and condesending. This is what will be remembered long after the snow melts. There will never be any more money voted for the schools as long as he is still here. He won't be able to blame that on the media.

Everyone is talking about what is best for the children of Byam School. Yet no one has brought up what the gift room is really about. As a former member of the Byam School PTO, I can speak about what I experienced year after year when I volunteered in the gift room. I found the time I spent with the children was filled with teachable moments. It was a time to teach children about, giving, sharing, budgeting, and decision making. When purchasing their gifts the children were also opportunity to practice their math skills. Best of all, the children enjoyed the experience while they were learning.. What the gift room is not about is your religious beliefs. The Byam School gift room is not the place to teach your children about religion. I have no problem stating that I do believe in God and Jesus, but I am not offended if you don’t. Nor was I offended that religious items were not for sale in the gift room. The fact that this issue has become national news does make me question what the real adgenda is.
Good points, good to hear someone speaking some common sense. However, religion in the gift room is only part of the issue here. The inconsistencies among the elementary schools is not helping your case. Some folks have very strong feelings and just want to be heard in a caring and compassionate way. They can't be brushed off and I don't blame them for bringing it out. Many people are supportive and the media loves that. In my opinion the administration could have deflected all of the media attention. Watch the videos on youtube and you will see just how well our town presented themselves. Too bad because all it needed was someone capable of managing people a little better together with some training in crisis communication. This could have been kept within the school system for resolution. Nobody took it seriously until the media was on it and sometimes that's the only way some people feel they can be heard.

I found out something rather interesting yesterday.....Jane Gilmore is a former nun. She obviously has some leftover aggression against religious holidays.

First moron, he's one of the most dedicated former educators, administrators and residents in this town. He fights for many things in this town and most importantly the kids. He knows what it's all about. May I remind you that the SC is a volunteer board, who gets voted in without pay. Divulge your real name and we will all see if your name is on the next ballot. Step up or shut up!
All of this shouting and behind the keyboard chest thumping, yet have you ever applied for a position with the school committee or any other town board? You tell others to divulge their real names yet you remain anonymous. Were you a board member? You seem to be quite defense.
