My cat is due for a rabies shot. I am concerned with letting the vet give the rabies shot, because my friend took her cat to the vet for her shots and the cat was dead within hours. She said it was shots that killed her cat and never went back to that vet again. My cat is 13 years old, never goes out or sees other animals. I am going to refues the rabies shot when I go to the vet. I will get her the distemper shot, but that is all.

Our sweet rottwieler/lab/australian shepherd mix was 10 years old. We took her for her rabies shot about a month ago, and within ten days, she stopped eating, would not get up, lost all interest in everything. Our curious, alert and happy dog, quickly became a very sad, and very sick animal. We took her to the vet, who said she had an infection and was running a fever. The vet gave her a shot of antibiotic, and a pain reliever. We took her home and tried to get her to take the anitibiotic pills, and rimadyl for pain, but she got so bad, she would not open her mouth at all. She deteriorated very rapidly and we let her go three days ago. My heart is broken, because she was my constant shadow for the last ten years and I miss her terribly. I wondered if the vaccine had something to do with her decline. Now I think it may have.

i have never vaccinated my dog for anything, and never will. i keep the local rug rats away from my dog, my dog is more important than any kid to me. people are popping out kids by the millions, buts its hard to find a great dog. i keep my pup on a raw food diet, with no vacc. no vet is going to tell me to vacc. its damn near impossible for a dog to get rabies, it would be like winning the lottery. rabies is a joke. here in texas it only exists in a few bats and racoons. its a scam

Check under title : "Over-Vaccinated Animals, Autism and SIDS" it is an interesting article that talks about vaccines linked to delayed vaccine associated anaphylatic shock in humans and animals.

Better dog than me... You are the definition of what is wrong with people today. An unwarranted sense of superiority, coupled with an absence of empathy. What determines the value of a life to you? Intelligence? Should we value the mentally challenged less, or how about small children? Because dogs are often smarter than small children. So then, should we demand that all children who have next-to-no chance of contracting a disease, be forced to take dangerous vaccinations by law, so as to alleviate what is essentially a non-existent risk of us contracting said disease? Because, lots of kids bite, you know. My friend's little girl thinks it is hilarious. Of course we shouldn't! It is ridiculous and dangerous to give vaccines unnecessarily to any living thing. And when the vaccines are dangerous to their health... Well, that could be argued as downright immoral. Just because you don't find value in all living things, doesn't mean we are all so callous. But, my central point here is that my dog is three pounds, and with the risk for mild reactions being very high, cases of death far from unheard of, and risk being greater with low weight, I will not be doing anymore vaccinations. My girl has already been very sick from one once before. My vet, of course, acts like I am some animal abuser, but she also drives a really nice BMW, so I'm sure that she's not in it for anything other than the dogs' health. Cough. Guess I'll be a lawbreaker.
