I'm moving to Lowell in 2 weeks and I'm extremely anxious due to all of the research I've been doing. I'm moving from one of the safest cities in the world to an incredibly risky one and I'm not sure how I can adapt. I'll be moving to 50 Sawtelle Pl. And is that in the Upper Highlands or the Lower? Is there a map the points out which are the two?

My relatives got the place and I'm moving in with them. I never knew the extent of Lowell until my ticket was booked

That's a 01851 zip code -- so it's would be the Highland, based on Google Map, It's the Lower Highland. I recognize Sawtelle. I know a family who lives there, it's a dead-end street. It isn't that bad, the family seems to do fine with children. You're right off School Street, if you go down towards Broadway St it gets sketchy, but if you come up towards Shaw St, the neighborhood will get better. All and all, Lowell is not too bad, I've lived here all my life, no issues. depends on who you hang out with. You'll be fine.:) Good Luck!

and... btw, if it makes you feel any better, i live in the lower highland too. just a few streets up more towards Shaw Street. I've never been attacked, assaulted, mugged/robbed. you'll do just fine :)
