Chelmsford police happy for CodeRED

Police Chief James Murphy said $15,000 a year is a fair price to pay for "CodeRED." And no, he's not referring to cherry-flavored soft drink, Mountain Dew Code Red.

Terrific! Maybe the school committee can use this again to call out voters for the next override when they see too many old people heading to the polls. Right Kathy?

$15,000 a year. Is this a must have or a nice to have. I thought the town was in financial dire straights? It's obvious there is still some fluff in the PD budget

That's great. Maybe you can get the cable companies to stop doing that EBS test three times each week.

Wouldn't you want to know if a criminal was in your neighborhood or if a child is missing. Being a parent I sure would like to know to keep my kids safe. What if an emergency happened and you had to alert the whole town? Just think of the money it would cost the police and fire department to go door to door and notify the whole town. The man power and overtime hours would certainly add up. I think its a great idea to save money and to help allocate the resources to help victims in an emergency and not be behind a desk answering phone calls from worried citizens wondering what is going on.
