How disappointing to discover that a special request was placed on the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts' Web site asking firefighters from surrounding communities to "have other plans for the Fourth" ...

This newspaper is a joke. Don't you have anything better to report on other than the firefighters not marching in the parade?

I'm P.O'd that the town i live in always sent units to the Chelmsford parade,but this year they weren't there. That tells me that something is going that shouldn't be.
I've lost some respect for them over something very childish.

I wish Chelmsford's fire chief would take more of the responsibility for running his department! Maybe he didn't have eenough stations or menpower available to place equipment in the parade. Maybe HE closed the doors to the center station because the FF's were tired of volunteering every holiday while other men in blue get paid? Maybe the town would have had enough money if they were making the BIG BUCKS that John Chemely is making running an ambulance service. MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE...the Lowell Sun will someday report the news and not try to create it...NOT!

Either way the fire fighters look bad! One thing that I can say with surety is that people love firemen, what happened here is a terrible mistake. Ya the ambulance probably would have been better under their direction but it didn't happen. The Firefighters in Tewksbury that work the ambulance are great. You guys just showed how not great you are! It was a huge disappointment we expected more and got less.
