Do you realize that anyone who lays claim to calling someone a "retard' is just as ignorant as the person who said it? You did not invent the word but the word has become something that is of pure ignorance. It is insulting and derogatory toward any human being. "Disabled" means the kid can't walk. "Retard" means the kid can't think.

Fact is, my friend, using the word does not denote anything on my part. It also does not specifically pertain to a person lacking mental capacity. I think the word has relevance in that it is appropriate to describe the person featured in this news article.
