Copied from the Daily Tribune:
Cheboygan police officers could wear Cheboygan County uniforms, drive Sheriff’s Department vehicles and continue patrolling city streets from their current home base under a proposed plan.
At a special meeting Tuesday, members of the Cheboygan City Council learned that turning over policing responsibilities for the city could net an initial savings of $139,000, with more money to be saved in future years.
The public in invited to sound off on the proposal Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 6 p.m. at the Cheboygan Opera House.
